Position Title: Test Engineer – Automation, (R&D)
Reports to: Location: Job Summary:
Test Lab Engineer will require degreed, ambitious, motivated individual, having proven experience in an
engineering discipline, including experience in test lab (Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, etc.)• Interface directly with personnel from all levels of Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory
Affairs, Program Management, Research and Development, Marketing, and Materials Management
• Demonstrate a high level of technical expertise and judgment in evaluating complex issues and
developing innovative solutions
• The successful candidate must have the ability to work individually as well as in a team
environment.
• Exhibit a strong sense of urgency and be aggressive and driven to succeed and overcome all obstacles, while maintaining a positive team environment
A Test Lab Engineer is an employee with both a high degree of expertise in an engineering discipline as well as test lab discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, etc.) The engineer is responsible and
accountable for technical contributions to assigned testing programs, research investigations, mature product activities, and additionally provides technology leadership in the functional area. The individual is an expert in advanced testing concepts, equipment operation, data analysis, and
compatible methodology and procedures.
Job Responsibilities by Capability:Business Acumen – 10% • Help shape the future of testing automation decisions and impact the
overall business strategy to facilitate products to market quicker.
Technical Leadership – 20% Responsible for the day-to-day workload management and long-term
planning in functional area in support of project goals.
• Lead test fixture development so that products meet performance,
quality, safety, and durability.
• Set-up and/or build, operate instruments, instrumentation, data
acquisition per testing requirements.
• LabVIEW programming certification with vision to developer certificate
• Python programming certificate with vision to developer certificate
• Educate others and be seen as FANUC onsite expert
• Design and lead Universal PLC builds
• Guide the lab techs in planning and performing standard/experimental
test programs
Problem Solving – 20%Continued modernization of legacy tests & fixtures
• Develop tests & fixtures to utilize cutting edge technologies [high speed
cameras, sensors, software, etc.]
• Strong problem-solving skills including identifying problems
and/or potential problems and developing solutions for smooth
workflow
• Design/program all aspects of PLC/HMI ladder logic for testing
equipment.
• Update/create PLC (Allen Bradley) programs for test equipment.
• Update/create HMI screens (PanelView) for test equipment.
• Specify, purchase, and/or design electrical and control panels for test
equipment.
• Troubleshoot controls issues including PLC, HMI, VFD, wiring, etc.
• Legacy Test Station Troubleshooting
Communication – 10% • Summarizes complex technical concepts in simple, clear language
appropriate to the audience to gain alignment.
• Recommends and presents solutions and opportunities in forums to
encourage ideation and technical sharing
Organizational Agility – 10% Collaborates with cross-functional teams to work seamlessly
across disciplines as required to execute product development
initiatives.
• Incorporates consumer and market insights to drive innovation and
project execution.

Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Automation or Mechatronics related field required
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience required (Consumer products experience preferred)
• Possesses good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills including identifying problems and/or potential problems
then developing solutions to mitigate concerns.
• Demonstrated electronics laboratory skills (soldering, wiring, instruments, etc.)
• Proven experience in working with electro-mechanical components
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and product specifications.
• Proficient in fixture builds & established use of common hand tools, including their best safety
practices.
• Proficient in determining proper measurement method with established proficiency in using measuring
instruments (force gages, calipers, micrometers, etc.)
• Experience with the use of automated measurement/test equipment (i.e. Optical Comparator,
CMM/Farrow Arm, Instron, Gas Chromatograph, color Spectrophotometer) a plus.
• Experience with CAD (SolidWorks or Pro-E preferred) a plus
• Able to lift 45lbs
