Research Scientist, Silicon Systems and Camera Sensors

Facebook Reality Labs is looking for an experienced Research Scientist to innovate system-level architecture, hardware and software bringing together cutting-edge silicon and sensing technologies. If you are keen on learning and thrive on tackling challenges across the hardware, software and technology stacks, we would be thrilled for you to work with us on creating some exciting disruptions in the consumer AR/VR space.

Responsibilities
  • Research novel system architecture that integrates recent advances in CV/ML algorithms, hardware accelerators and image sensors
  • Design, build, debug and optimize algorithms, software, firmware, hardware and devices
  • Prototype and characterize experimental systems
  • Support and collaborate with other researchers across various disciplines
  • Communicate research agenda, progress and results
  • Work with product teams to bring your research to product
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related field
  • Proven track record in research work and publications
  • 5+ years of experience in 3+ of these areas: algorithms, software development, firmware/driver development, digital design, design verification, FPGA prototyping, ASIC bringup and validation, sensors, imaging
  • 2+ years of experience programming and debugging
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with developing software for Computer Vision and Machine Learning
  • Experience with OS kernel and device drivers
  • Experience with ASIC and FPGA development tools
  • Experience with taping-out, bringing-up and characterizing ASICs
  • Experience with sensors and imaging
  • Result-oriented, self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking
  • Experience working effectively both as an individual and in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team
  • Experience in an ambiguous and fast-changing work environment
