Software Engineer, Future Initiatives Team (FIT) - Facebook Reality Labs Media

AR/VR | Los Angeles, CA

Facebook’s Experiences team is exploring the potential of virtual and augmented reality to bring people together in new ways. We are designing technologies that help people to create, share meaningful moments, and build communities using the unique qualities of these immersive new mediums. We aim to develop experiences that put people first, defining a future where virtual reality enables us to connect with the people and content we care about like never before. As an engineer working on FRL Media, you will be prototyping realtime 3D interactive media experiences using ever evolving techniques and frameworks/engines on constrained hardware. These prototypes will explore and define the future of media in AR and VR. The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer who has the ability to bridge the gap between delightful design and technology (specific to 3D interactive applications and games), with a passion for virtual reality and rapid iterative product development.

Responsibilities
  • Architect efficient 2D and 3D UI system that drive complex VR applications
  • Prototyping new interactions and features with an eye toward intuitive usability and feel
  • Collaborate with Product Designers, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to deliver compelling user-facing VR products
  • Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years experience in developing user interfaces in 3D applications
  • Experience in 3D math, linear algebra, and techniques
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with other teams to incorporate their feedback and vice versa
Preferred Qualifications
  • Virtual reality experience (Rift, Vive, Go, Gear VR, etc.)
  • C++ and/or C# programming experience
  • A combination of Windows, Android, and game console programming experience
  • Unity or Unreal experience
  • Experience in UX design or spatial interactivity design
  • Experience in media streaming technologies
  • Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments
