Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Future of Climate Software Engineering Internship - Melbourne

• Work in 1 of IBM’s 12 Global Research Labs
• Position based Melbourne
• 12 Months Full Time Position

IBM Research Australia is a young, proud and diverse community working on industry solutions, conceiving, designing and building next generation enterprise systems.
The Future of Climate team is looking for an aspiring software engineering intern to help develop novel solutions to reduce the carbon footprint of cloud and data centers. The intern will be working closely with the research team who are spearheading global efforts to combat the increasing carbon emissions arising from these infrastructures. Ideal candidates will have experience in full stack development and cloud technologies, as well as a passion to make the world a better place.
What will I be doing?

• Develop new software to reduce the carbon footprint of cloud and data centers.
• Accelerate research through software development and convert outcomes into software assets.
• Work towards building functionality into IBM’s cloud products, platforms and tools.
• Contribute to patents, scientific publications and open-source software communities where appropriate, and to support the strategic direction of the Future of Climate initiative.
  

What skills will I need?

• Good understanding of web-based front-end, back-end and database technologies.
• Experience with Python and web programming an advantage.

What experience do I need?

• Pursuing undergraduate/graduate program in Computer Science or related field.
