Associate Product Manager

Job Description

Quick Take: Axios is a growth-stage startup dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We are hiring an Associate Product Manager to join our growing Product team!

Why it Matters: T his person will partner with senior product leaders to drive forward the research and development of new features and user experiences across mission-critical Axios products. This person will also be responsible for supporting product managers, designers, and engineers from initial product discovery, through the software development process, to shipping to users and measuring impact. In the process, this person will build a strong foundation of product management skills and experiences to propel their PM career forward.

Go Deeper: This person will play a key role in the development of Axios products in the following areas:

• Managing product backlogs and maintaining product roadmaps that align with company objectives and goal
• Collaborating with designers and engineers to translate features into appropriate user stories and acceptance criteria
• Ensuring all tickets and designs are fully defined and ready for engineering in advance of the sprint start
• Providing stakeholders with regular updates and occasionally represent the squad at stakeholder meetings
• Tracking and responding to user feedback and Axios support emails

The ideal candidate should have an entrepreneurial spirit, be highly collaborative, exhibit a passion for building technology products, and have the following qualifications:

• 1+ years working in a software development organization
• Understanding of agile software development processes
• Familiarity in writing product specifications/tickets in Jira
• Experience participating in UI/UX design development, and an appreciation of great UX
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail and the discipline to dig beyond the surface layer of anything
• Understanding of programming (any language), HTML, CSS, and how websites work
