ABOUT THE ROLE As the Principal Designer for Udemy’s Instructor Experience, you will lead the design for products used by 60,000 instructors globally. You will champion our instructor’s success in creating and publishing courses, engaging with their students, and managing their businesses - ultimately helping more than 50 million students improve their lives through learning. As the first dedicated designer for Udemy’s Instructor Experience and the first designer in our Istanbul office, expect plenty of future opportunities to shape the growth of the Instructor design team there and build on your initial impact.

You are...

    • Helping your agile team to discover, define and prioritise the problems and opportunities you should work on.
    • Own the process and management of solution design, from organizing workshops and design sprints, right through to testing the implementation of your designs.
    • Collaborating on a daily basis with Product Managers, Product Marketers, Engineers, Researchers, Data Scientists, to ensure you are delivering features that have significant impact for the Instructor community.
    • Regularly presenting your work to local and global design teams and critiquing the work of others in order to raise the standard of design in Udemy.

Qualifications

    • A portfolio of end-to-end product design work that showcases your involvement, from research and discovery to visual design and engineering implementation support
    • A minimum of 5 years Product Design experience
    • Very strong verbal and written communication skills (English language)
    • You’ve got an insatiable appetite for talking to users and really understanding their needs
    • You’re a natural designer with a highly-collaborative and low-ego approach. You’re an ambassador for design who brings diverse stakeholders together to align and work together to solve problems
    • You facilitate ideation within your product area and champion the users while managing stakeholder input
    • You regularly and clearly articulate your design process, key decisions, plus the information and insights that informed your decisions
    • You build expertise in your product area through developing best practices and understanding the competitive landscape
