Software Engineer - C++

Job Description

Join our small, productive native engineering team churning out correct, maintainable, high-performance, modern C++ to support Discord's ever-growing feature set across a world of devices from traditional desktops to mobile and beyond.

• Develop core libraries and infrastructure supporting high-quality, low latency voice/video/text communication between hundreds of millions of users
• Develop all aspects of Discord desktop clients (Windows, macOS, Linux)
• Develop new audio and video features across desktop, iOS, and Android platforms
• Fix performance issues and bugs by root causing real-world end-user issues
• Develop client-side interfacing with devices such as mic and camera for voice and screen capture
• Work with open source frameworks including Electron and webRTC

• 2+ years professional experience with embedded or systems-level engineering
• Comfort and love coding high efficiency C++
• Experience working on large, cross-platform software projects
• Keen focus on code readability and incremental refactoring
• Passion for self improvement and a healthy appetite for learning

• Experience working with WebRTC
• Experience with Electron
• Experience handling devices on desktop and mobile platforms
