Position Title: Director, Brand and Category Marketing – Beverage (Contigo)
Location: 180 N. LaSalle St., Chicago, IL / Outdoor & Recreation Division
Reports To: VP, Business Director of Beverage

Job Summary:
The Director, Brand and Category – Beverage (Contigo) is accountable for leading the brand, category and marketing strategies that deliver the overall financial performance for the Contigo brand. The director will be responsible for building consumer demand and market share by grounding the team in deep consumer, category, and market insights. This position will establish clear objectives that deliver growth strategies for the portfolio and set the current and future direction for the brand(s). The director will set the strategic vision for the Contigo brand through short and long-term initiatives by leading new product launches, commercialization strategies, category portfolio management and integrated omni-channel brand plans.
Responsibilities:

  • Overall owner of the category P&L for the Contigo brand with responsibility for Revenue, Margin, OI, and Market Share
  • Lead the category teams through the brand planning process to set a fully integrated global marketing plans utilizing the full marketing mix of advertising, products, promotions, and trade funds
  • Responsible for full portfolio management including new product development from idea to delivery, along with the product road map for the brands, across multiple product platforms to be rolled out across countries and regions
  • Accountable for delivering product marketing objectives and strategies for the category for the next 3 years
  • Uncovers test and learn opportunities of marketing vehicles to find leverageable points for scale and impact.

Financial Management and P&L Ownership

  • Owns the delivery of the P&L for the Contigo brand across Thermal, Hydration and Kids for revenue, margin, OI, and market share
  • Provides quarterly analysis on the brand(s) and recommends changes to annual plan as needed to deliver market share and financial metrics
  • Tracks risks and opportunities for the brand
  • Works collaboratively with finance on all product projects, delivering to division financial targets.

Brand Stewardship

  • Owns the brand positioning for the Contigo brand including all activities. Sets the brand identity and guidelines process (i.e. consumer promotion materials, POS, PR, social, and digital materials)
  • Supports the team through management of the brand communications and POS materials to ensure brand ID compliance.
  • Maintains that marketing communications and marketing adaptations are on-strategy and consistent.

Insights

  • Utilizes POS Data, Shopper and pricing research to develop and optimize product and commercialization plans
  • Partners with Consumer Insights to recommend tactical research needs to inform product and commercialization strategies such as shopper, pricing, concept/idea validation and mix analysis.
  • Reports back to the business brand metrics across commercialization activities to maintain alignment to campaign metrics, providing the corrective action when necessary.

Product Portfolio Management

  • Leads the recommendation on portfolio assortment needs, product adaptations, and pricing strategy for new innovation launches.
  • Leads and manages direct and cross-functional team members to execute effective product launches from conception to delivery.
  • Leads overall guidance to local creative service team(s) and/or local approved agency partners for innovation launches.
  • Responsible for the global marketing on innovation programs.

Integrated Marketing Plan and Execution

  • Leads the global integrated marketing plan that meets the annual marketing objectives.
  • Leads the development of global advertising briefs and regional adaptations of campaigns.
  • Develops global media plans including priority initiatives, investment and activities to align with brand strategies.

Project and Process Management

  • Lead the prioritization product marketing initiatives and tracks/manages the overall marketing budget
  • Serves as the brad category liaison between channel and sales planning, digital marketing, R&D, design, finance and marketing operations.
  • Oversees project timelines with PMO, deliverables and approval process for both product and commercialization projects.

Social Media, PR, Digital Marketing & Partnerships

  • Leads the brand commercialization strategy (inclusive of social, PR, digital, influencers & partnerships), brief development and SOW.
  • Partners with agency to deliver media campaigns and initiatives through briefing to the execution of total campaigns.
  • Leads the global marketing objectives, target consumer and measurements for brand programs.
  • Serves as the cross-functional liaison across digital marketing, social media, consumer promotions and partnerships.

Promotions Planning & Budgeting

  • Supports the Channel and Sales Planning director with long-term promotional strategies including brand objectives, target consumer and measurements.
  • Supports the briefing and development of the annual consumer promotion plans.
  • Co-Leads the recommendation of media, customer shopper and promotional budget allocations.

Qualifications

  • Have a passion for the design, trends and bring a passion to our brands in the work environment.
  • Four-year College/University degree
  • 10+ years of marketing and/or product management work experience
  • Up to 35% travel required

Experience

  • Proven success in executing a comprehensive marketing plan that is integrated across multiple consumer touch points, including digital and in-store.
  • Has managed new product launches from concept stage through commercialization with proven in-market success.
  • Has worked on a business with global or international exposure. Demonstrates an understanding of differences between countries and cultures.
  • Demonstrated success/ability working in a matrix environment.
  • Strong communication skills, written, and oral.
  • Proven ability to work on and lead a cross-functional team.
