We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager Logistics Operations within the Project Management Office (PMO) Abbott Rapid Diagnostics business located at Lake Forest, IL. The Program Management Office (PMO) is responsible for leading business integration and transformation initiatives via partnering with executive leadership to develop, prioritize, and execute initiatives that enhance top line growth and improve operational efficiencies. The team executes these initiatives by aligning and partnering with the key stakeholders across Regions, Business Units and Functions utilizing management consulting frameworks, Lean Six Sigma Operational Excellence methodologies, functional knowledge (e.g. commercial, finance, procurement, IT, etc.), and project management skills. The team acts as change agents and transformation leaders who execute and deliver the committed corporate goals and results.

The Senior Manager Logistics Operations will manage and effectively lead the US Covid test finished goods fulfillment to end customers. This position will have responsibility for inbound transportation of finished goods from the manufacturing sites to the distribution center, distribution center order processing and outbound transportation for fulfillment to the end customers along with responsibility for all distribution center operations. This includes excellence in achieving KPIs resulting in meeting/exceeding end customer expectations for order fulfillment. The successful candidate understands how to manage and influence in a highly matrixed cross functional team with customer service, Business Unit Supply Chain planning and 3PL providers including distribution center and transportation providers. This key role is responsible for total operations spend, continuous improvement, operations efficiency and long-term network strategy and reports into the Senior Director, PMO.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for ARDx US Covid test distribution center operations and management of designated 3PL provider(s) for customer order fulfillment. Performance will be measured by SOW, SOP, established KPIs and achieving annual budget.
  • Responsible for inbound and outbound transportation management of designated 3PL provider(s) from manufacturing locations to distribution center to end customers.
  • Problem solving for unexpected urgent situations such as manufacturing constraints, same day customer deliveries, late product arrivals.
  • Collaborate with ARDx cross functional teams to ensure customer fulfillment meets and exceeds expectations as measured by established KPIs. Cross functional teams include manufacturing operations, customer service, BU demand planning, BU supply planning and corresponding leadership.
  • Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with key suppliers and acts the key leadership contact to our suppliers on all operational and rate related items.
  • Responsible for supplier relationship management both at day to day execution level and broader strategic level.
  • Assist in the coordination, planning, design, execution and implementation of distribution logistics programs.
  • Develop and coordinate an organization to generate comprehensive analysis of multiple data and factors related to the division’s distribution network (transportation, warehouse. freight spend, inventory, capital investment). Collaborate with Logistics team to develop, revise, present and execute the long-range strategic plan in alignment with executive and senior management strategies and related division objectives.
  • Primary stakeholder and decision maker in the negotiation of key contracts with transportation providers and periodic annual bid process.
  • Assures adherence to Abbott legal and risk management policies.
  • Identify new technologies to support leveraging state of the art solutions in alignment with long range plan
  • Facilitate the project management process and organization of periodic forums to align multiple initiatives with other ARDx locations and other Abbott division distribution sites for continuous improvement initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree with focus on Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, or Logistics Management or an equivalent of 12+ years of relevant global Supply Chain management experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of years relevant work experience with proven success in supply chain management within complex logistics operations (which may include Supply Chain, Logistics and/or Operations in a manufacturing or distribution environment).
  • Knowledge of financial information, process and reporting
  • Knowledge of materials and inventory computer systems
  • Thorough understanding of Abbott planning / inventory management or distribution systems
  • Demonstrated successful project leadership
  • Knowledge and familiarity to international affiliate operations and their needs and regulations.
  • Proficiency in common program management communication software tools (i.e. MS Project, PowerPoint, MS Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experienced in providing/articulating key components of financial analysis including Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or MBA degree, preferred.
  • Experience in Healthcare, Medical Devices highly desired.
  • Experience or cost-modelling, a plus.
  • Experience in Quality System Regulations (QSR) 21 CFR 820 and Design Control: ISO 13485:2003, a plus.
  • Experience in the medical device, FDA cleared product development, desired.
