Financial Data analyst - Issuing

Adyen is the payments platform of choice for many of the world’s leading companies, providing a modern end-to-end infrastructure connecting directly to global card schemes, and consumers' globally preferred payment methods. Adyen is launching full-fledged flagship issuing platform for our merchants – allowing everyone, everywhere in the world, to Issue cards with ease wherever people pay.

Adyen Issuing (URL LINK https://www.adyen.com/issuing) has built an innovative and feature-rich platform for merchants looking to use Adyen’s infrastructure to achieve a modern Issuing offering in no time. Adyen is offering rich APIs, fine-grained controls, and full coverage of innovative use cases – from marketplaces, to travel, to the delivery economy. This project is executed by a greatly entrepreneurial and a relatively small and high performing team.

As a Financial Data analyst in the Amsterdam Issuing team, you will help us build and maintain scalable controls to make sure both Adyen and its customers know what their costs and revenues are every day, down to the digits after the comma. You will work with core development, core product and core data teams to build pipelines and features to automagically monitor and understand where the money is flowing. You will dive deep into millions of payments to build up your own knowledge of how the global payments system is structured – and with that understanding, you will help build even more innovative features, unlock value for our entire customer base, and build the best Issuing platform in the space.

What you’ll do

• Join our core Issuing team to shape one of our flagship products’ financial and pricing structure;
• Drive primary development of our Pricing and Monitoring Framework. This includes understanding, monitoring and booking of complex financial ledgers, developing tools and data sources to allow for analysis of full-scale financial data, in order to build ways to measure, document and optimize price and financial data for Adyen issuing;
• Keep up to date with development and changes in pricing and regulations from card networks, global authorities, foreign exchanges and third-party providers. Constantly interface with all Adyen internal teams to monitor any internal or external developments which may have an impact on Adyen Issuing’s pricing and financials;
• Analyze large quantities of data together with our development and data teams to discover anomalies, understand costs and revenues, and optimize pricing in a product-driven way for all Adyen Issuing users;
• Develop a deep understanding of the payment sector’s financial structure. Understand who the stakeholders are of the global payment supply chain, and iterate on that knowledge to transform this system into measurable value for our customers;
• Work with the core product and core development teams to continuously enhance the product and platform to ensure two core goals: optimization and constant improvement of Adyen’s pricing model and financial analysis, and development of features to make sure our customers are getting the best value- at all times.

Who you are

• Experience in finance, fintech, technology, banking, pricing, retail or a quantitative background (statistics, economics, data, finance, computer sciences, financial accounting, ...);
• You have a strong drive to understand how complex systems works. You are extremely eager to learn, detail oriented and able to understand very complex numbers;
• You have an affinity with technology and quantitative methods and you are able to perform large-scale analysis using both off-the-shelf and proprietary tools;
• You have knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as Python, Julia, Scala, R, Java, Stata, ... OR business analysis tools such as SQL or Microsoft Excel;
• You are able to perform at core-product levels inside Adyen’s fast-moving and technologically advanced environment;
• You are able to understand and challenge the industry to help build the best product in the space
