Job Description
                  Description      Drug Product Development is responsible for designing and developing formulations that enable delivery of AbbVie’s candidate molecules in a dosage form suitable for preclinical or clinical studies. AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative scientist with experience in physicochemical characterization of small molecule candidates and development and preparation of pre-clinical formulations.  
    Key Responsibilities Includes:   
   -    Responsible for preparing pre-clinical formulations for Pharmacokinetic (PK) studies. Responsible for preparing buffers and solutions.   
-    Perform routine tasks competently and independently and generate reliable and consistent results.   
-    Analyze and critique results, noting significant deviations.   
-    Troubleshoot experiments and instrumentation.   
-    Learn and understand new experimental techniques.   
-    Demonstrate skill in multiple techniques and appropriately modify protocols, as required, to suit the changing needs of research or development sciences.   
-    Place data in proper scientific context by consulting and citing relevant literature.   
-    Demonstrate technical proficiency in his/her field.   
-    Impact projects predominantly through lab activities.   
-    Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.   
    Basic Qualifications:    
  -    BS with typically 0-3 years experience or MS in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.   
-    Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out job function.   
   Preferred Qualifications:   
  -    Working knowledge of typical formulation approaches and routes of administration (i.e. IV, SC, IP, PO) across multiple species.   
-    Experience with analytical approaches toward physicochemical characterization of pharmaceutical dosage forms (i.e. HPLC, DSC, TGA, PXRD)   
-    Strong organizational, planning and troubleshooting skills.   
-    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing conditions.   
-    Excellent oral and written communication skills.   
-    Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team settings.   
-    MS Word, Excel, Power Point proficiency.
