Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives:

Provide vision, strategy, and leadership for plant operations and maintenance to achieve and maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, customer satisfaction, delivery, service, and manufacturing capability to accomplish plant, division and corporate goals at competitive costs.

Major Responsibilities:

Partner with Quality Assurance in implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
Assures compliance to all procedures and policies concerning all areas of quality, regulatory, safety and human resources.
Initiates and implements actions to maximize profits by containing expenses through improved operating and cost efficiencies. Develops, approves, and meets financial budgets, plans, and updates.
Recruits, trains, develops, rewards and recognizes personnel to achieve targeted strategies and goals. Creates the appropriate organization structure to reflect and achieve current/planned goals and objectives.
Ensures performance, quality, cost, schedule, profit and customer satisfaction targets are achieved with risks identified and mitigated and opportunities exercised.
Establishes interfaces with Divisional/Corporate management to assess customer needs and assures accurate project or program technical direction for operations engineering and manufacturing.
Assists in new product launches, production and engineering improvements, product testing, etc.
Assures timely and relevant communications to and from all levels. This includes assuring communications between affected reporting areas and to related departments. Responsible for establishing systems that would enhance intra- and inter-departmental communications.
Coaches, develops, and mentors direct staff. Conducts performance reviews; develops growth plans; interprets, implements and supports employee-related policies, procedures and programs. Assigns projects/tasks to direct staff. Responsible for recruitment, selection, development and retention of employees.
Develops strategic plans and objectives in accordance with overall Plant and Division strategy; execute business plans through functional reports while providing leadership, coaching and direction.
Works closely with peer Plant and Division personnel to develop plans/focus to assure continuous improvements that will benefit Operations. Provides leadership and valuable participation in team activities that will enhance the overall effectiveness of the Plant.

Supervisory / Management Responsibilities:

Direct Reports: 3 Exempts

Indirect Reports: 7 Exempts, 96 Non-Exempts

Education:

Bachelors Degree: Engineering, Business, Operations, Science, preferred. M.B.A. desirable.

Background:

Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for FDA regulated environment. Ten years experience in a variety of roles in manufacturing to include significant experience in management/supervision.
This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to effectively lead in a team environment, adaptable to change, able to manage competing priorities, excellent analytical and problem solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and sense of business savvy.

Accountability / Scope / Budget:

This position operates with only general direction and minimal supervision from the Plant Manager, and has full responsibility to make decisions that directly impact site goal achievement. Requires broad range of management prerogative necessitated by a large number of operating decisions. Annual budgetary responsibility $20MM+.
This position is accountable for maintaining and complying with FDA, USDA, OSHA, MDEQ, MDA and Affirmative Action requirements. Noncompliance or failure to meet the above could result in failure to meet customers’ demands, thus affecting business. Responsible for ensuring proper equipment/manpower utilization, good employee relations, a safe environment, quality products and observations/violations are given.
