BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies (MAS) group includes tactical asset allocation, factor-based strategies, income funds, target date, target risk, and impact investing products. Our team of over 300 multi-asset investment professionals manages a range of pooled vehicles, model portfolios, and customized mandates for a diversified client base. Currently, MAS has over $450 billion in assets under management and has a strong presence in San Francisco, New York, Princeton, London globally and as well as Hong Kong, Sydney, Shanghai, Taipei and Tokyo within Asia Pacific. The Multi-Asset Strategies group sits alongside Client Portfolio Solutions (CPS) which is the investment area focused on delivering custom whole-portfolio asset allocation and portfolio construction services and solutions. CPS is structured to deliver tailored solutions for different client channels including DC and Wealth Management Platforms, Pensions, Insurance, Foundations & Endowments, Family Office, Official Institutions and Multi-nationals.

Role Description

We are looking to hire a Taiwan discretionary investment account (DIA) Portfolio Manager to join our expanding onshore business. Internally the portfolio manager belongs to the MAS Core Portfolio Management (Core PM) team which is responsible for a wide array of portfolio management responsibilities across MAS and CPS. Based in Taipei, the Portfolio Manager will be responsible initially for managing BlackRock Taiwan on-shore DIAs and should be qualified to manage on-shore portfolios (Fund of Funds/ETFs), simultaneously. The individual will work in partnership with portfolio managers, sales, product specialists and other key stakeholders to promote and support onshore products. This will include presenting to prospective clients, working on slides, marketing materials, regulator-required reports and client queries.

The successful candidate should possess a deep knowledge of balanced portfolio, the cross-border fund marketplace, investment management and global economics. The successful candidate is expected to serve as an ambassador for the Portfolio Managers/Product Strategists of Multi-Asset Strategies (MAS), collaborate with Core PM team and clearly identifying and communicating the team’s investment theses to both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage BLK Taiwan on-shore DIA and on-shore Overseas portfolios.
  • Conduct 4-step investment process reports and any other administer affairs in complying with external regulations, rules and internal instructions.
  • Write up reports for securities in onshore overseas funds on a regular basis to fulfil Taiwan regulatory requirement / clients enquires.
  • Analyze and report market status of the Taiwan assets management industry.
  • Participate in Taiwan weekly, monthly and quarterly meetings to share investment viewpoints with peers.
  • Incorporation with product development team to develop and launch portfolios that focus on the Taiwan on-shore fund market.
  • Share investment ideas to global/APAC MAS/SAE investment professionals.
  • Provide macro-economic views and insights as well as opinions on the outlook for Asian equity markets with partnership with BlackRock Investment Institute (BII)/relevant investment teams.
  • Build partnership and strong working relationship with the analysts and portfolio managers in MAS/SAE teams globally.
  • Be an ambassador for the MAS/SAE teams and serves as the team’s representative in Taipei.
  • Be a back-up for other Taiwan on-shore fund managers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree is essential, and Master Degree/CFA holder is preferred
  • License of Securities Investment Trust and Consulting Professional required (Taiwan Securities Investment Analyst License is preferred)
  • Qualified for registering at least two Taiwan onshore DIAs/funds simultaneously accredited by SITCA
  • Preferably >3 years’ experience in multi-asset research and portfolio management in investment industry
  • Familiar with SITE/SICE regulations and relevant compliance
  • Very good knowledge of investment and asset management.
  • Familiar with Macro/Micro economics
  • Familiar with Bloomberg-System
  • Strong risk management awareness
  • Fluent Mandarin and English proficiency
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications
  • Preferably some programming skills and experience, in particular with python or similar languages
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and be a team player with the ability to work well under pressure across time zones
