KATERRA factories act as an extension of job sites, maximizing construction activity within the factory environment to drive improved productivity. KATERRA’s new factory is a 577,000 square foot advanced manufacturing facility with fully automated wood frame wall production lines, automated floor lines, automated cabinet and finish areas, automated roof truss lines, an automated window line and a light gauge steel production line.

Human Resources Manager

The HR Manager position has an overall responsibility for leading and supporting the human resource functions at the Tracy manufacturing site which includes staffing, performance management, employee and labor relations, training, employee engagement, and design and implementation of various other HR programs.

The HR Manager will act as the key HR site leader and voice . They must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to work successfully on a broad spectrum of employee relations issues and projects. They must balance managing proactive HR related initiatives to ensure employee engagement in the workplace and resolving time-sensitive employment issues. To be successful, they must be highly responsive, demonstrate conviction and a commitment to impartiality, and develop strong relationships throughout the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with factory and production management daily and leads the HR efforts at the manufacturing facility. May supervise on-site HR staff.
  • Ensure a positive, respectful, and productive work environment. Manage and resolve all employee relations matters. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal counsel as needed/required.
  • Deliver effective and engaging training on a variety of leadership and compliance topics.
  • Design, collect, and analyze multiple levels of employee feedback and develop proactive strategies for addressing any areas of improvement.
  • Provide performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Work with the Human Resources Shared Services team for personnel actions, such as promotions, salary adjustments, leaves of absence and transfers.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years progressive human resource experience, with supervisory experience preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience resolving complex employee relations issues
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and labor relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Strong knowledge of regulations, such as FLSA, ADA, FMLA, and NLRA.
  • Bachelor degree and/or relevant industry experience. Additional years of experience may be used in place of degree if appropriate.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • JD, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred
