Job Description

What You'll Do

As a Senior Visual Designer, you will work alongside other designers to steer the course of projects, maintain a visual design system and guide our partners. On any given day, you may find yourself producing wireframes and flows at appropriate fidelity; leading design reviews with team members; planning and executing design research; informally training designers on advanced interaction design skills; presenting new tools and processes to the design group; and documenting detailed design for communication to team, partners, and our developers.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a group of hardworking creatives, strategists and technical architects on a variety of projects to:

  • Help evolve our visual language and user experience, and their relationship to the company’s mission.
  • Offer strategic guidance on how to incorporate engaging visual language into effective user experiences.
  • Build design style guides and document best practices.
  • Present to and incorporate feedback from stakeholders from Design, Engineering, Product, and Brand.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholder groups, external vendors and suppliers to build a strong support network.

Who You'll Work With

You will be part of the Experience Design Team within the Global Digital Marketing organization working with our Design team across the globe. Bridging the gap, and ensuring alignment between partners, strategists, and various IT teams to ensure design experiences, brand identify and accessibility are equally balanced.

Who You Are

You have an upbeat, can-do attitude and work well with creatives, technologists and strategists. You are a specialist in understanding the steps it takes to build large scale web projects—from Brief to Research, User Experience, Design, Copy, Development, QA, Maintenance and Measurement. You have:

  • 4+ years experience in the design industry (ideally experience in both interaction design and visual design) or comparable experience
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, listening, presentation and documentation skills.
  • Ability to distill key decisions and discussions and translate them into a compelling visual message. A demonstrated passion for the user experience, as well as knowledge of how to use design to achieve communication goals.
  • Highly proficient with current visual tools with knowledge of how to hand off assets for production (and sometimes collaborate directly with engineers to arrive at solutions together).
  • An interest in and care for how design can lead to inclusion or exclusion of different audiences
  • Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Invision, Figma, Sketch, Adobe, & Keynote
  • Experience leading projects from concept to execution, implementing visual design systems across a range of platforms in an iterative software development environment.
  • Experience crafting responsive web design with a mobile-first approach.
  • Ability to cultivate an understanding of industry trends and communicate your ideas to the design org as a whole
  • Be proficient in digital strategy and the digital design process, and comfortable initiating quality checks and approval at specific milestones with other designers
  • Be comfortable working with remote team members in multiple geographical regions.

We Are Cisco

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference. Here’s how we do it.

We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we’re “old” (30 years strong!) and only about hardware, but we’re also a software company. And a security company. An AI/Machine Learning company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do – you can’t put us in a box!

But “Digital Transformation” is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, we give our egos a break and we give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, we take bold steps, and we take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a commitment to equality for all, there is no moving forward.

So, you have colorful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool.
