Associate Field Application Specialist

Field Service & Technical Support

Entry level position established to train professionals on lab analyzer platforms, processes and expectations. Must have clinical lab experience of at least 1-2 years including intimate working relationship with chemical lab analyzers and familiarity with assay additions. Will train to support as the primary liaison/customer support representative throughout the implementation, solution correlation, and future clinical application support. This includes planning and coordination for implementation and customer training. Responsible for first level support and problem solving of issues that arise for customers during the life cycle of the solution.

Will need to provide highly visible, self-supervised and self-directed, extensive on-site advisory customer support through the consultative performance of complex implementations and tailored customer training for business-specific solutions. Requires specialized knowledge generally of a particular discipline, system, and / or software, as well as specific training and certifications. May adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position.

Job Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Medical Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or other related science degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Information Technology or Computer Science preferred
  • Medical Technology certifications or licensure preferred (MT, CLS, ASCP, AMT, MLT, MLS etc.)
  • 1 year previous experience in a clinical laboratory or IT in a clinical lab environment including intimate working relationship with chemical lab analyzers and familiarity with assay additions (2 years preferred)
  • Effective customer communication skills (written and verbal), positive attitude, helpful customer interaction, and fostering of strong internal and external customer relationships
  • Effective time-management, organization and prioritization skills
  • Ability to travel 95% of the time
  • Ability to work as a field based individual contributor with independence and autonomy
  • Regular and predictable attendance are essential functions of this position

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for learning platforms, processes and expectations which includes: developing proficiency and expertise of systems/platforms; learning implementation practices; learning how to determine customer needs
  • Meet customer needs based on an individualized assessment of the customer’s personnel, organizational structure, workflow and maximization of equipment capabilities, which may include: equipment, applications, systems, and IT solutions.
  • Will serve as the liaison and technical expert with customers on consultative, administrative and technical matters. Reviews, analyzes and resolves routine customer questions and problems; refers complex or escalated issues to higher levels. Acts as an advisor on customer issues and drives efficiencies and optimization for the customer through independent analysis and problem solving.
  • Takes responsibility for providing technical consultation to the commercial team in pre-sale activities with customers for complex solutions as directed. Working alone or with a higher level employee; Solution implementation includes: verification, calibration and/or evaluation of equipment, applications and/or systems. Performs upgrades or patches and support as required.
  • With guidance, monitors equipment, product and system performance ensuring operational quality, and reports issues to higher levels per required procedures.
  • Conducts tailored - customer training for all assigned business solutions; how to train key operators on the use and maintenance of the systems.
  • Supports commercial activities by promoting business solutions and identifying opportunities for new system consumables (i.e. reagents, primary antibodies, bio-markers, software); identifies opportunities for competitive system consolidation or replacements.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with customers and colleagues. Promotes brand leadership in the diagnostic market.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of assigned solutions and technologies. Assigned solutions includes but not limited to a variety of solutions and configurations (clinical chemistry, immunology, molecular, tissue, life science & IT solutions)
  • Documents and processes all service and customer account related reports per policy. Maintains contact with internal technical support areas and management per policy.
  • Maintains expenses within departmental guidelines. Controls assigned inventory and maintains all company property.
