We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Data Engineering Team Lead to join our business in Docklands, Victoria. The Data Engineering Team Lead is a knowledgeable individual in Railway systems who provides technical and managerial leadership in engineering design works for Rail Operation Control Systems. They guide and manage the competency development of their team so that they achieve the required competencies in consultation with the Engineering Manager. They also provide career path guidance and training needs to their team in consultation with the Engineering Manager.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

1. Growth of their team in terms of quality (competency) and quantity as per market and business needs.
2. Management of the utilisation, training, competency and career growth for their team.
3. Engineering interface for the Data Engineering function in Siemens’ Rail Operation Control Systems engineering department.
4. Hands-on technical leadership, guidance and coaching of team members.
5. Senior/Principal Design Engineer and/or Work Package Management expertise as per their industry experience and past competency records.
6. Compliance with Operational Requirements and associated Engineering Standards, Processes.
7. Leadership in a critical data engineering project delivery function for a large install base in AU/NZ by utilising the necessary experience in local and global products in Siemens’ portfolio (Westrol, Westcad, Rail9000, VICOS OC501 and ILTIS).
8. Significant improvement and focus on the quality, maturity and continuity of Data Engineering Design Processes and Deliverables (e.g. HMI/Screen Design, Railway Topology Modelling, Simulation Data, Telemetry Interface Mapping)

We are looking for a candidate with following experience & qualifications:

• University degree (or comparable) in technology (engineering) areas of automation / electrical / communication / railway / informatics is necessary.
• Extensive overall industry knowledge within the rail and signalling.
• Ideally ‘Registered Professional Engineer’ (RPE), IRSE Licensed and/or a registered member of one of the engineering membership authorities.
• Ideally eight years’ experience in the area of system engineering, preferably in railway signalling (engineering, development, planning, project execution, offers) combined with team management experience.
• Experience in dealing with customers and colleagues from other cultural environments (intercultural experience).
