Job Description

As a Product Manager you will lead a cross functional team in all aspects of processes and projects associated with the external manufacturing of SIG Equipment from prototype, to end of life. A Product Manager is responsible for the overall health of the various product families and associated business metrics and works closely with their respective Product Teams to ensure the SIG PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) process is followed on all new product introduction, schedules, phase gates, and successful transfer of manufacturing of the product to the selected Contract Manufacturer (CM). Product support by the Product Managers is encouraged to be comprehensive of the complete manufacturing, assembly and test processes. The Product Managers will lead collaborative relationships with several cross functional working groups internally, as well as with our CM, to ensure that a high degree of visibility, clarity and aligned execution to Micron’s external manufacturing business processes.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Job tasks/job functions that the Product Managers will be responsible for:

  • Lead the product team leader/owner for a specific product, or group of products from prototype to end of life (SIG PLM)
  • Understand in detail and clearly communicate timelines for external manufacturing execution of owned products
  • Ensure that Engineering Change Notifications (ECN) and all changes affecting fit, form, function is communicated to the appropriate teams
  • Be first responder on requests and concerns from CM and ensure resolution
  • Be a buffer between CM and SIG design team
  • Define, monitor and report to SIG Sr. Leadership and Micron Executive teams on Product health and CM manufacturing performance metrics
  • Update appropriate SIG teams on CM ongoing improvements, issues, challenges, landmarks
  • Ensure the appropriate SME(s) are tied in on the critical areas needing support from beta to high volume manufacturing (HVM)
  • Facilitate conference calls and ad-hoc meetings required to support the products owned
  • Communicate product technology roadmap to CM to ensure manufacturing readiness
  • Collaborate and approve engineering solutions and improvements with CM
  • Material change requests/approval for 2nd sourcing and alternate components/material
  • Focus on and manage continuous improvement in all aspects of role

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience:

  • Engineering (Mechanical, Material or Electrical)
  • Project Management

Experience

Knowledge of Test Tools highly preferred

Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • A minimum of five years of direct experience manufacturing processes and production documentation
  • General understanding of CM (contract manufacturing) business is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality management systems (QMS) and ISO requirements
  • Knowledge of PCA manufacturing (SMT and T/H), systems assembly and test processes
  • Experience working with customers and with cross-functional groups
  • High-level understanding of quality containment and the 8D process
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office package
  • Excellent people and project management skills
  • The ability to be ambitious and to prioritize multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Strong communication, organization and presentation abilities
