GEICO’s Actuarial Pricing and Reserving department (APR) is looking for professional, experienced, and highly motivated analysts to join our team. In this role, you will develop skills in project & product management, data analytics, and potentially modeling. What does the Actuarial Pricing and Reserving department do?
Pricing’s mission is to strategically price every risk to accelerate profitable growth.
Reserving's mission is to give an accurate picture of the company’s financial condition and P&Ls by consistently establishing loss and loss adjustment expense reserves which are sufficient to cover our claims liabilities.
APR's vision for its associates is to be problem solvers who utilize data and business knowledge to inform the company and implement solutions that will contribute to the company's short-term and long-term success.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Analyze large datasets to solve challenging problems
• Conduct business-specific research, such as understanding new insurance offerings on the market or tracking industry developments related to evolving vehicle manufacturing
• Gather data, and compile reports and summaries
• Monitor changes in profile distributions
• Engage stakeholders to ensure customer feedback factors into our process, with opportunity to present findings to senior management
• Other day-to-day duties include ensuring data integrity and participating in data quality control and validation

Candidate Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or business field of study with at least a 3.2 overall GPA
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects at one time
• Demonstrated analytical and creative problem-solving experience
• Strong written and verbal communication ability
• Highly proficient in MS Office Applications
• Experience with SAS, SQL, or R is a plus
*Must be willing and able to commute or relocate. This position is based out of our Corporate office in Chevy Chase, MD.
Salary Information:
Starting salary is in the mid-to-high $60K range
