Your Opportunity

The Corporate Systems team in Charles Schwab’s Technology organization is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Manager within the Financial Crimes Risk Management, AML, and Supervision and Controls team across the larger Compliance and Legal Service Technology portfolio. Working closely with the various business and IT teams, this position will play a key role in the delivery and overall management of multiple large scale projects, planning for and executing an upcoming data center migration and large scale future integration. In addition to supporting the technology used by FCRM, AML, and S&C, this role will manage the daily operations of multiple technical teams and the off-shore service providers, provide oversight on the deliverable based contracts, and ensure on-budget and on-target delivery of the remaining Insight Replacement project, Actimize upgrade project, day-to-day managerial responsibilities of internal employees, and manage enhancements and incremental system advancements as prioritized in the various application agile backlogs.

What you’re good at

  • Directly manage the Insight application, Insight Replacement project technology team, and the Actimize application(s) and upgrade project team which includes employees, contractors and off-shore resources to support the Compliance and Legal Technology organization; this includes project budget management, resource onboarding, stakeholder updates, and project milestone deliverables.
  • Have direct responsibility of the chosen vendor and their large deliverable based contracts
  • Assume ownership for delivery of the prioritized agile backlogs and currency enhancements for five critical applications for the Compliance and Legal Technology stakeholders and product owners
  • Build and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with team members and stakeholders
  • See the big picture but also navigate the details, collaborate on roadmap initiatives, technology prioritization, and strategic technology initiatives for large upcoming projects
  • Be able to navigate a significant number of dependencies and moving parts to successfully manage and deliver critical business functionality with regulatory driven completion dates
  • Work collaboratively as a team player to develop mutually acceptable solutions, and act as a mentor/coach to the technical team
  • Solve problems and provide support, taking responsibility to make decisions when appropriate
  • Manage the administrative people management tasks and performance manage responsibilities
  • Utilize a data driven Agile approach, balancing in fixed constraints, to establish clear decisions and directions on staffing and/ or initiative delivery
  • Coach the team on Agile best practices to drive process efficiencies
  • Work effectively with leadership, stakeholders, and product owner to understand the greater business objectives and technical strategy
  • Provide crisp and well-understood directives and communication
  • Communicate on a technical and non-technical level to all levels of staff and management
  • Track and manage dependencies across lines of business and platforms
  • Understand applications from a technical and business perspective
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment and lead by example

What you have

  • Demonstrated experience as a technology people manager, managing multiple large, complex and cross functional projects preferably with AML project experience, with track record of delivering projects with an emphasis on systems, technologies, business process redesign including knowledge of technical environments
  • A track record identifying and managing issues, risks and dependencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent relationship management and mediation skills, with business and other key stakeholders, with a knack for weighing multiple stakeholder perspectives and driving timely and effective decision-making
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, organization, decision-making, and influencing skills
  • Familiarity with the financial services domain, preferably with an AML background
  • Experience in an Agile development environment, with experience understanding and utilizing Agile Scrum best practices
  • Team player with strong collaborative qualities and a positive demeanor
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint along with general familiarity with Outlook and other MS Office applications is also required
  • Ability/desire to listen and encourage thoughts, opinions and discussions where needed
  • Exposure to the Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence, etc)
  • Technology experience to manage, coach, and develop highly technical resources, including developers and business systems analysts
  • Strategic acumen to see the big picture and drive strategy technology roadmaps, while also having the ability to dive deep and navigate the details
