The Chick-fil-A Technology Innovstion Co-Op will have the opportunity to:

  • Build cloud-based software products using modern code technologies and practices in an agile, team-based environment
  • Build technology plans and solutions to enable a digital workplace for corporate staff and restaurants.
  • Build relationships across technical and functional peers and Chick-fil-A Technology leadership
  • Build application development skills to understand how different systems interact

Co-Ops in the Technology Innovation program devote time to prototyping and experimenting with technology to improve the lives of Customers, Operators and Team Members. In this Co-Op, you’ll leverage technology like Blockchain, IoT, Machine Learning and more to create innovative technology solutions. Projects previous interns have contributed to include Google Glass, mobile app development (Chick-fil-A One), Computer Vision and automation. You'll connect with a mentor for career coaching throughout the program and experience leadership opportunities who will personally and professionally develop you.

This program gives you the opportunity to leverage your programming and project management skills in a real-life working environment. You’ll get to experience first-hand Chick-fil-A’s corporate culture and participate in a range of IT/DTT projects. In addition to project work, you’ll meet with key leaders across each function to better understand all aspects of the business. You will also have the opportunity to rotate across our various IT/DTT offices and functions while gaining key skills and perspective necessary for a successful career in IT/DTT at Chick-fil-A, Inc. or in IT/DTT more broadly. ABOUT THE Co-Op

This is a brand-new Co-Op Program that Chick-fil-A’s Technology team is using to partner with students on experimental projects while also preparing the future IT workforce for Chick-fil-A and IT more broadly. We are committing to developing you as a technical professional who will be ready to take on the real-world challenges of the technical world. This is a 3 semester Co-Op operating on a non-sequential, every-other-semester, basis where students will spend their first semester working full-time at Chick-fil-A's Technology Innovation Center, located Midtown Atlanta. After working full-time for Chick-fil-A for the first semester of the Co-Op, students will return to school for the next semester, and will continue this pattern until having served 3 semesters for Chick-fil-A and 3 semesters of college coursework. Co-Ops will also have the opportunity to rotate work locations at Chick-fil-A’s corporate headquarters. The Technology Innovation Co-Op is a separate program from Chick-fil-A’s traditional, summer internship program at the Support Center (corporate headquarters).

  • This is a paid opportunity
  • Only full-time opportunities are available (Co-Ops may not be taking coursework while working)
  • Must commit to working 3 semesters for Chick-fil-A
  • Must have at least 3 semesters of college coursework remaining before graduation and must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in a technical field
  • Must reside within 50 miles of the Chick-fil-A Technology Innovation Center located in the Midtown Atlanta Biltmore Hotel.

Responsibilities

Project Examples from Previous Internships:

  • Assist with the design and implementation of a new iOS mobile application
  • Build Chick-fil-A software to increase efficiency and elevate customer experience
  • Work with teams on innovative solutions such as the Chick-fil-A One app
  • Automating our restaurants by leveraging IoT devices for our kitchens
  • Developing systems to make our restaurants the safest place to eat
  • Supporting digital workplace transformation for Corporate Staff
  • Creating solutions to automate processes for Corporate Staff

Job Responsibilities & Activities:

  • Learn about a variety Chick-fil-A systems and technologies
  • Contribute to current IT projects or initiatives with guidance from an intern coach
  • Influence new and innovative ways to solve current business and technical challenges
  • Learn from key members of the IT department to better understand IT roles and key functions
  • Get an inside view of Chick-fil-A systems and technologies
  • Participate in programmatic experiences designed to deepen your understanding of Chick-fil-A’s culture as well as to immerse you in the realities of professional requirements in the technical world

During your project(s) you’ll be responsible to:

  • Identify opportunities
  • Leverage resources
  • Drive results to meet project timelines
  • Tell the story of the potential impact of your project
  • Receive guidance on your IT projects or initiatives from your intern coach
  • Learn from key members of the IT department to better understand IT roles and key functions

Assignments may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Investigate new technologies and services
  • Design, develop and deploy software solutions including mobile and web apps
  • Build prototypes and experiment with technological solutions for use in Chick-fil-A Restaurants
  • Provide a technical perspective of software solutions to Analysts and other IT Support Center staff
  • Provide demonstrations and presentations of solutions to key stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled as a student pursuing a bachelor's degree in a technical field of study

Minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills
  • 3 semesters of college studies remaining
  • Interest in long-term career trajectory in a technical field

Major/Concentration

MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, HCI, Computational Media, or other related technical majors

Minimum GPA (4.0 Scale)

3.0
