Job summary

The Red Hat Enterprise Experience and Delivery team is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join us in Pune, India. In this role, you will contribute to the development of Red Hat's engineering projects problem analysis and resolution platform. You'll take responsibility for contributing and building a reliable and resilient platform to serve different business needs. As a Software Engineering Intern, you'll need to be involved, creative, motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced, geographically distributed environment.

Primary job responsibilities

• Contribute value to Red Hat’s customers through the enhancement of both customer and internal systems
• Develop software that contributes to Red Hat's modern search online diagnostic platforms
• Analyze business requirements and convert them into feasible work items
• Serve as part of an agile and globally distributed Product Development team responsible for both customer-facing solutions and internally-integrated systems
• Design, implement, and extend both internal and external facing software
• Ensure ongoing quality of the application code bases through bug fixes, refactoring, and test automation
• Collaborate with other developers across multiple teams and technologies for cross-team projects

Required skills

• Experience developing object-oriented server-side applications
• Experience working with data structures
• Interest in search or big data technologies like Apache Lucene, Apache Solr and Elasticsearch, Apache Spark, or Fusion
• Interest in large scale information retrieval and natural language processing
• Interest in machine learning and statistical models
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; good written presentation skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English
