Job summary
The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) team is looking for a Senior Manager of Analytics Architecture to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work effectively at the intersection of business, people, and technology to lead a team that designs an enterprise data platform to support analytic initiatives by combining tools, technology, data modeling, and data governance standards. You’ll need to have advanced knowledge of database systems with solid interpersonal and project management skills. You will set priorities for the team and communicate findings to senior management within Red Hat. As a Senior Manager, your focus will be on effectively designing and developing analytical data platforms to support data science and advanced analytics. You’ll also need to be skilled at evangelizing newly implemented tools, best practices, architecture patterns, frameworks, and techniques.
Primary job responsibilities
- Bridge the divide between extract, transform, load (ETL) developers, data governance, business stakeholders, and data scientists
- Deploy data governance standards in the data platform
- Oversee a full analysis of current systems and processes and coordinate the development of new, improved systems and processes
- Ensure clear communication about business success
- Help reduce risk and ensure that analytics projects achieve their business objectives by linking strategy, requirements, and constraints with a viable data architecture
- Operationalize analytics, map requirements to implementation, recommend technology, and evaluate nonfunctional attributes like security, usability, and stability
- Work directly with the Director of Enterprise Data Governance and Architecture and the Vice President of Enterprise Data and Analytics to select and implement systems, processes, and tools that will enable improved analytics and enhance the business value
- Develop and publish metadata standards and data lineage to support data discovery and data cataloging
- Provide feedback on perceived needs to support the development of future state analytics systems, processes, and tools
- Provide vision, guidance, and support to the Analytics team and continually reinforcing the importance of communication, teamwork, and implementation
- Organize and motivate the Analytics team to deliver outstanding results and to run projects that exceed user expectations and finish on time and within budget
Required skills
- Bachelor's degree in a field like statistics, computer science, information systems, business administration, or related; advanced degree is a plus
- 7+ years of experience at the intersection of business and technology
- Experience working in a technology leadership role; demonstrated ability to motivate a team to deliver technology projects on time with a business value focus
- Demonstrated experience with data architecture and data modeling
- Solid knowledge of cloud computing technologies
- Demonstrated working knowledge of data governance, including metadata, data quality, master data management, and data security
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to persuade senior management through data and ideas
- Working experience with Informatica data governance and master data management tools
- Working knowledge of data virtualization technologies
- Solid program management and organizational skills; good understanding of data and process modeling
- Solid knowledge of and experience with applications, infrastructures, tools, and leading practices that enable access to and analysis of information to optimize business decisions and performance
- Ability to leverage knowledge of the organization’s information, application, and infrastructure environment as well as the current technology landscape to design a holistic and optimized analytics platform
- Understanding of the analytics life cycle, in which data from an operational system feeds the tools used for discovery, analysis, and modeling
- Ability to take responsibility for recommending appropriate technologies from the many open source, commercial, on-premises, and cloud-based offerings available
- Understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Tableau, and Domino is a plus
