Job summary
The Red Hat North America Public Sector Consulting team is looking for a Senior Manager to join us. In this role, you will help find, guide, and implement the best technology solutions for our government clients. You’ll focus on strategizing, developing, and implementing on building senior level, high performing technical teams focused on cloud-native application development, software factory development, and secure infrastructures in support of public sector customer demands. You’ll lead a team that embraces focus and emerging technology to help sell and deliver future state capabilities to public sector customers. You will work collaboratively within integrated, cross-functional teams focused on delivering comprehensive strategies that enable applications on cloud infrastructure transformations. As a Senior Manager, you’ll need to be able to work well within teams composed of a diverse group of specialists across multiple disciplines from both within our consulting practice and from our customers. You will be expected to lead, own, develop, and deliver respective technical capabilities in support of growing the Red Hat services business. You will join a Red Hat team of subject matter experts who co-create innovative software solutions using emerging technology and modern software design methods. You will be responsible for building expertise that teams with customers and partners to accelerate their digital transformation to cloud technologies at all layers of the cloud stack. As you do so, you will create infectious enthusiasm for building great software using principles of open source culture. Primary job responsibilities
- Define scope, mission, strategy, and implementation plans associated with high performing Technical teams in the area of cloud-native application development, software factory, and secure infrastructure; lead and develop these teams
- Develop quality relationships and trusted adviser status with key business stakeholders to promote customer adoption both internally and with strategic customers
- Develop an understanding of customer business issues and industry direction and continue to evolve how Red Hat Services can offer top technical capabilities
- Serve as a senior escalation point for business and technical issues for Red Hat North American Public Sector Services customers
- Serve as a point of contact between the Emerging Technology Practice (ETP), Business, Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE), and Engineering teams
- Develops and supplement multi-year roadmaps focused on digital transformation
- Showcase superb whiteboarding and communication skills
- Develop and manage business plans and team strategy associated with the three identified areas
- Contribute to and be able to present on Red Hat’s cloud-native application development, software factory, and secure infrastructure strategy and labs offerings
- Support and develop account strategies in partnership with the Red Hat Sales Specialist team that sells and delivers consist of emerging technology capabilities to customers
- Work in collaboration with Red Hat Services business functions to develop future capabilities to deliver solutions on Red Hat’s technologies
- Maintain cross-functional team alignment, motivation, and good morale in situations of ambiguity and high stress
- Innovate on our current thinking and developing new approaches to continue to innovate on how Red Hat delivers software and systems to customers
- Collaborate and coordinate with customers, Sales, and Delivery teams to ensure best customer experience
- Provide career guidance, enablement, and support to other Red Hat team members
- Maintain an understanding of DevOps, container, cloud infrastructure, and application development frameworks, principles, and methodologies as it relates to Red Hat’s transformation offering
- Manage the business functions like utilization, forecasting, capacity planning, etc. as it relates to your team’s resources
Required skills
- 12+ years of relevant consulting or industry experience; proven ability to build relationships with senior business and technology leaders
- Experience managing large-sized technical (20+) teams
- Comfort presenting and delivering to internal and external senior leaders
- 7+ years of experience leading high performing technical teams
- Experience scoping opportunities and coordinating resources for the delivery of projects
- Advanced understanding of modern software delivery life cycle, Kubernetes, DevOps, and hybrid cloud infrastructures
- Experience with the development of operations domain with a focus on emerging technology frameworks and infrastructures supporting mission critical applications
- Solid understanding of the concepts and principles behind DevOps, continuous integration (CI), continuous delivery (CD), test, Agile, Lean, configuration management, security, Infrastructure-as-a -Service (IaaS), etc.
- Understanding of emerging technologies and end user needs
- Direct working experience in people management through managing a team, including a successful record in talent development within the team
- Persistent enthusiasm to learn, adopt, and implement innovative methodologies and practices like design thinking, lean strategy, etc.
- Ability to understand the technical impact of projects from supportability, scalability, and repeatability aspects and the business impact on both Red Hat and customers in delivering and scoping project
- Proven record of customer excellence by maintaining a high level of integrity to ensure both short and long-term customer success
- Experience with cross-functional collaboration within a software company or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Ability to work with a multi-location team
The following are considered a plus:
- Active Top Secret Clearance
- Experience working with or knowledge of OpenShift and Kubernetes
- Experience leading teams architecting, designing, and implementing applications using modern application frameworks and principles
- Experience leading teams with modern development and testing techniques like CI and CD
- Technical understanding of API management solutions and their role across enabling an enterprise cloud
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills
- Experience working in Agile software development life cycles
- Experience developing, maintaining, and presenting to executive level leaders in their respective fields
