Job summary

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Team Lead to join the Cloud Native Virtualization (CNV) initiative in Ra’anana, Israel. In this role, you will lead a team of talented engineers designing and implementing a virtualization management system on top of Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift. As part of a geographically distributed team, you will collaborate with product managers, other Red Hat teams, and open source communities around the globe, empowering your team to meet ambitious goals and to be accountable for their work. To be successful in this role, you'll need to be able to accurately manage the balance between business priorities, technical debt, and the team capacity, embracing and amplifying the Red Hat core values of freedom, courage, commitment, and accountability.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Play an active role in the relevant open source projects and communities like Kubernetes, OKD, and KubeVirt
  • Work with product managers and other teams to design roadmaps and schedules
  • Coordinate with cross-functional managers and teams on documentation, product management, and quality engineering (QE) to coordinate tasks necessary for releasing enterprise-quality software
  • Work with other engineering managers and teams to use and improve existing technologies
  • Support your team during tight schedules and aggressive deadlines
  • Embrace and amplify Red Hat's values in your team and within Red Hat and open source communities

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent working experience
  • 2 years of experience managing software developers and releases of offerings
  • 5+ years of significant software development experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with or extensive understanding of computer systems, e.g., Kubernetes, network technologies, e.g., SDN and SR-IOV, and performance optimization, e.g., NUMA awareness and CPU scheduling
  • Proven ability to review code and software designs
  • Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD) and agile or scrum methodologies
  • Understanding of open source development models and community interactions
  • Prior participation in open source community software development or leadership
  • Background in virtualization, containers, and cloud platforms
  • Motivated with the ability to quickly learn new technologies
