Materials Demand Planner
As a Materials Demand Planner you will play a crucial role in forecasting materials that have critical impact on Shutterfly's consumer product portfolio. Responsibilities will encompass product mix demand planning, materials forecasting, Bills of Materials (BOM) management and Analytics/Reporting.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Materials Demand Planner to support our S&OP, Supply Planning and Manufacturing teams with forecasting activities associated with products and materials. The Materials Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast models for Shutterfly products incorporating business intelligence, S&OP top level forecast, capacity planning information and BOM assumptions gathered from S&OP, Marketing, Production and other sources. Forecast modeling and business analytics is the responsibility of this position.

Specific responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Demand Planning:
- Develop product mix demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function using S&OP top level forecast as a starting point
- Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results
- Coordinate research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions related to promotional activity and product mix trends
- Collaborate with S&OP, Marketing and Merchandising teams to understand demand forecast drivers
Materials Forecasting: - Manage complex Product Bills of Materials (BOMs) for the product categories you own
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Operations teams to understand capacity plans that impact materials and routing
- Coordinate research activities to reconcile significant variances related to production variables such as: waste assumptions, reprint rates, capacity planning assumptions
- Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working cross-functionally to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts
- Communicate materials forecast to Supply Planners and provide input in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs
Reporting:
- Create dashboards to track product mix trends and support business decisions
- Track forecast accuracy at multiple levels of aggregation
- Provide ad-hoc decision support and business analysis
Skills: - 3-5 years of experience working in manufacturing, supply chain, finance or demand planning is required
- Bachelors Degree in Finance, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or business-related degree.
- Experience managing product planning for a mix of existing and new product launches in a fast-paced e-commerce company
- Experience using analytical and business processes and tools for forecasting and supply chain planning
- Demonstrated deep analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify business process issues and opportunities and to implement effective improvements and control plans.
- Experience and comfort using ERP and Business Intelligence tools
- Diverse operations, supply chain planning and demand planning experience
- Demonstrated ability to use influence to obtain business results
