Database Administrator II

The Database Administrator II will be responsible for maintaining systems as defined and ensuring their ongoing availability. The database administrator II will take responsibility for aspects of the RDBMS systems as well as provide leadership and coaching for more junior members of the team. The scope of responsibility is for the complete understanding and optimization of a single database product at Accruent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Quickly learns new product platforms and database technologies and teaches others
• Improves standard practices and procedures within the group
• Proficient in SQL, T-SQL and Windows Script Host (WSH)
• Understands the infrastructure environment
• Develops robust, reusable, global solutions
• Effective troubleshooter and problem solver
• Working to obtain deep skill set on relevant DBA areas
• Voluntarily, independently and successfully leads projects to completion
• Understands the infrastructure environment and can independently support an application’s database platform
• Has a proven capacity for execution and delivery on tasks
• Disseminates technical and functional expertise to peers
• Capable of teaching classes developed by Principal DBAs
• Solid competency in backup and recovery options
• Participates in recruiting efforts
• Performs database design tasks
• Proactively seeks training opportunities for themselves
• Trains interns and new DBAs
• Maintains team’s documentation and makes updates and enhancements
• Understands concepts related to database performance and tuning

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• A minimum of 5 years of experience with SQL Server in at least one of the following:
  • technical database administration
  • code development, tuning, and design
  • report development and concepts
• DB Certification in SQL Server (or equivalent experience) is preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven self-reliant, self-starter, and capable of assisting with education of others
• Ability to reason logically and participate in the development of innovative solutions
• Project and task oriented with a focus on details
• Able to work well within group or individually on projects
