Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a Director of Business Development for its Air Force Solutions (AFS) business area. The Business Development Director for Enterprise Information Technology Systems (EITS) is responsible for identifying and qualifying new business opportunities, and supporting current business activities within the EITS portfolio. The Director will also contribute to the prioritization of new business pursuits and the development of marketing plans and capture strategies across the Air Force Solutions Business Area. The Director also provides guidance, advice, and support to the Air Force Solutions Business Area leadership regarding Business investments and priorities.
The Director will interface regularly with Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL); Air Command Command (ACC), Sixteenth Air Force (16AF) and its Network and Cyber Wing customers to identify, qualify and create new business opportunities according to the Business Capture Process.
The Director will develop and maintain close, trusted partner relationships with offices of senior military and civilian US Government customers, current and prospective customers, as well as industry partners and suppliers. The customers include all relevant Space mission areas for Requirements, Budgeting, Programming, Acquisition, fielding, and Test and Evaluation. The Director will be able to assist EITS Customers in meeting their requirements and capability gaps with those capabilities, products, and technologies available or being developed in the Air Force Solutions Business Area. The position will coordinate with engineering personnel in preparing, editing, and presenting briefings or hosting discussions with customers, highlighting BAE Systems capabilities and solutions against customer requirements and capability shortfalls. The position will also support the Business Areas through attendance at Industry Days, Symposiums, Professional Events, Conferences, and Trade Shows.

Additional responsibilities include the following:
- Grow the opportunity pipeline to 10X of AFS annual revenues, to include existing as well as adjacent markets/customers, through diligent and timely identification/qualification of new business opportunities by leveraging current technologies, customer intimacies, and inter-company collaboration.
- Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans for the pursuit and successful capture of key opportunities.
- Maximize customer engagement with efficient territory management.
- Support major capture activities for the business area.
- Obtain marketing intelligence and competitive data pertaining to potential targeted pursuits and develop marketing strategies.
- Participate in bid decisions, development of cost strategies and phase reviews.
- Establish, build, and maintain customer relationships and assess competitor capabilities aligned to specific customers in intelligence community.
- Support creation and execution of multi-year business development strategies.
This position can be located remotely in Texas, Northern Virginia or New York.
Typical Education & Experience Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education - Minimum of 12 years of relevant Business Development experiences and/or customer mission experiences.
- Demonstrated success in leading and winning contracts >$100M.
- Ability to identify, establish and use important customer relationships with senior level officials and program stakeholders within defense and intelligence community.
- Demonstrated success in leading and growing Intelligence services, DoD services, or Air Force Solutions businesses with at least $200M in revenue.
- Experience with the Air Force in at least two of the following areas: Space Operations/Acquisition, Strategic Systems (nuclear and ground based strategic deterrents), Aircraft Modernization and Readiness (intelligence gathering platforms), Range Radars, and Enterprise/ Mission IT.
- Demonstrated knowledge of systems integration, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), IT services, deployment of cloud and high-performance computing, cyber security, software development.
- Experience leading opportunity captures, including developing overall win strategy; shaping deals with customers; developing teaming strategies, identifying and closing with teammates; understanding pricing and assist in developing winning price.
- Demonstrated background in solution selling, developing new markets, with proven leadership from inception to fruition of a strategic campaign.
- Direct and support new business development opportunities to improve the company’s business portfolio to include marketing and customer call plans.
- Ability to develop, document, and execute a plan for achieving awards/growth.
- Knowledge of Government contracting and current acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors.
- Knowledge of competitors and ability to model competitor behaviors in the market.
- Excellent writing, communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives and customers.
- Demonstrated high-energy leader who will drive performance and exhibit strong selling skills with a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Candidate must have an TS/SCI level clearance to be considered.
