Your Opportunity

The First Line Risk Management Office (1RMO) is a centralized team of risk professionals supporting all of the Schwab 1st Line of Defense (1LOD) business organizations. Responsible for establishing 1LOD governance guidelines to standardize processes, create an efficient and scalable structure, and streamline risk management activities across the 1LOD. Facilitate the risk management process across Business Lines, including risk identification, monitoring, and reporting, and issues management. Ensure integrity of the control environment through periodic testing key controls, identification of control gaps, and initiating remediation and action plans. Facilitate, manage, and execute risk management activities to support 1LOD Business Lines.

What you’re good at

As a Program Manager, you will wear many hats and need to be comfortable working in ambiguity. You will be responsible for development and ongoing management of department programs to support business stakeholders. Additionally, you will contribute project management capabilities and best practices, in order to help the department execute against major initiatives more effectively. All this will be done in a highly collaborative environment where the needs of the stakeholder come first, and effective communications is a must.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Establish and operate strategic departmental programs and activities in accordance with regulatory guidance while meeting the goals and objectives of the organization.
• Constantly deliver on improvements that make us more efficient and easier to work with as an organization while managing program risks. This may include outreach to constituents.
• Establish meaningful and effective communications about our programs to a variety of stakeholder groups.
• Produce accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle.
• Add expertise to the facilitation of project activities across the organization to support an environment of accountability and execution.
• Perform project management functions for the department, as needed, to include establishing project plans, resource management, change management and escalation, project communications, and project delivery.
• Work with your manager to establish best practice project outputs, to include creation of minimum documentation requirements, project reporting, and establishment of project governance activities.
• Participate in risk management activities including, but not limited to risk assessments, business maturity assessments, and establishment of Key Risk Indicators and metrics.
• Coordinate departmental responses to oversight groups and regulators.

What you have

• Bachelor degree or master degree in business or related field.

• Demonstrable experience in the program management and project management spaces.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding organizational skills including attention to detail and managing multiple projects at once.
• Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude.
• A desire to learn the various components of organization risk management in detail.
• Technical and business acumen which will enhance business processes and further develop confidence from leadership and stakeholders in your programs.
