IT Group Description

Client Group Technology creates and supports business innovating technology for the Client Group. The team is responsible for business innovation, project and relationship management, data and business intelligence, vendor management, and software development as it relates to the tools used by the over 500 Client Group staff globally.

The Client Group has a presence in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia, and is composed of five main areas:

  • Sales & Client Services works with financial intermediaries and institutions to offer diversified investment solutions that help clients build and preserve their wealth
  • Business Development is a conduit to the firm’s investment teams and supports our clients and internal business partners through investment-platform and product content, messaging, competitive analysis and education
  • Product Strategy & Development designs, develops and manages the firm’s global lineup of investment services and considers clients’ evolving needs to identify new opportunities
  • Marketing promotes the firm and its services by creating, packaging and distributing content and messaging to engage diverse audiences through digital platforms and initiatives, strategic campaigns, and events
  • Business Transformation looks to evolve and scale our business, leveraging digital and data, to drive topline growth and improve profitability

IT Job Description:

We are seeking a Nashville based Technical Business Analyst to join the Client Group Technology team.

Describe the role:

The Client Group Technology Technical Business Analyst is responsible for providing business analyst and project management expertise to deliver business transforming technology solutions to the firm’s sales, marketing, client services, and business transformation groups. A person in this role is expected to have experience working on projects that deliver custom software from scratch, can research and navigate complex data flows, and partners closely with technologists and business stakeholders effortlessly. Success will be measured by his/her ability to enhance the Client Group’s ability to connect with current and prospective clients, purposefully offer distinctive products and services, and develop tools that enable business transformation and innovation.

Describe the applications and business or enterprise functions the role supports:

The role will require

  • Experience researching and documenting complex data flows, transformations and formulas
  • Experience with database systems, ability to write basic SQL queries – advanced SQL preferred
  • Familiarity with the technical architecture of web sites and applications (terms like servers, stored procedures, latency, load balancing, JSON, caching, etc. should all be concepts that are understood with tangible experience)
  • Ideally has worked on a project that has involved building custom software from scratch (i.e. not just integration or vendor led projects)

The key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Partner with stakeholders across business, technology, and other impacted teams to identify innovative technology solutions
  • Actively participate in global program governance to transparently track and communicate project goals, status, impact, etc. to stakeholders at all levels
  • Manage projects in iterative, agile-like framework from initiation to implementation and beyond
  • Serve as subject matter expert (and first point of contact) for specific products and workflows; retain broad base of related knowledge for all Client Group technology
  • Standard project management and business analysis functions including but not limited to
    • Documenting project requirements, use cases, user interfaces, testing scenarios, process flows
    • Collaborating in design discussions with developers and subject matter experts
    • Tracking and reporting on project status, goals, milestones, etc.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications (The ideal candidate should have the following):

Qualifications, Experience, Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 4+ years of project management, business analyst, data analyst, or relevant technology experience
  • Experience working with cross departmental teams (technology, business, vendors)
  • Experience managing technology based projects specifically web application development to include WebAPI
  • Experience with iterative project management methodologies (i.e. Agile)
  • Finance, asset management, economics experience a plus

Skills:

  • Experience managing business relationships to assess and predict needs, offer innovative solutions, and grow a business / technology partnership
  • Demonstrative success in problem solving and critical thinking in a fast-paced collaborative environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; proven ability to work with multiple cross-functional teams across the firm
  • Demonstrative tenacity and enthusiasm; detail-oriented and deadline driven with proven ability to multi-task
  • SQL, experience working with databases and data
  • Proficient in MS Office Products, including Visio

Nice to Have:

  • Marketing specific experience
