Description
Joining Intuitive Surgical means joining a team dedicated to using technology to benefit patients by improving surgical efficacy and

Primary Function of Position:
The Manager of Instructional Design will be responsible for managing a team of Instructional Designers as well as project managing the instructional design and content development of mission critical learning programs, including but not limited to mobile learning, e-learning, instructor-led training, blended instruction solutions, and virtual training sessions. Management responsibilities will focus on creating a shared vision with the Instructional Design team, partnering with cross-functional teams to execute on strategic project initiatives, building relationships that lead to successful project implementations and developing employees. Instructional design and curriculum strategy will focus on the clinical/technical aspects of our da Vinci Surgical System and its components and how to effectively train our surgeons, operating room staff, and sales representatives. Materials will be developed using programs like Storyline, Captivate, Premier Pro, Flash, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Management (Primary)• Partner with leadership, Instructional Design and Multi-Media teams to develop scalable, innovative learning strategies • Manage and track instructional design projects through all phases of development (ADDIE), ensuring all projects meet quality and timeline requirements • Communicate learning/training plans to external departments and executives • Manage onboarding, day to day operations, workload and professional development of the Instructional Design team • Strategize, research, evaluate, recommend, and implement new development approaches and technologies • Analyze workflows to determine efficacy and opportunities for process improvements • Develop and foster needs/gap analysis to assess and prioritize opportunities • Optimize training material development process • Ensure learning content is structured and presented to create the best experience for the learnersInstructional Design (Secondary)• Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify and capture learning content • Use e-learning authoring tools to develop learning content and evaluations • Project manage all phases of a learning project – design, development, & implementation Qualifications
Skill / Job Requirements• At least 5 years of management experience in instructional design/learning development • At least 1-2 years instructional design experience • 4-6 years of experience in biotech or medical device organization preferred • Education Background o Curriculum Development or Instructional Design/Technology degree preferred o Education degree acceptable o College degree required• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills • Experience with the following is required: o Leading a team of instructional designers o Developing high impact, interactive e-learning and ILT material o Developing & implementing mobile learning strategies and tools o Working with SMEs in a cross departmental and team environment o Applying adult learning theory to learning solutions o Managing content translation for a global audience o Utilizing a Learning Management System (LMS) o Managing multiple development projects and deadlines o Providing structured and constructive feedback to team members and redirecting team members, if necessary• Experience with the following is preferred: o Video recording and editing o Audio recording and editing o Digital photography o Implementation of AR/VR learning solutionso Developing content for delivery to mobile deviceso Evaluating learner journeys with xAPI / TinCan• Software Proficiency o Learning Management Systems (especially experience with Totara, Moodle or an open source model)o Captivate or Storylineo Adobe Creative Suite o MS Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint)• Successful completion of Intuitive Surgical’s clinical and product training programsWe are an AA/EEO/Veterans/Disabled employer.
