Software Engineer Intern

Job Description

Rakuten Rewards is looking for an intern to join our rapidly growing engineering team for a paid internship. We’re responsible for building software used by hundreds of millions of users. Our software engineers belong to dynamic cross functional teams that focus on integrity, collaboration, improvement, speed and results. Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary, cross-functional team
• Build and test reusable client-side features and components
• Adhere to best practices in application development and deployment
• Implement automated testing including integration and unit tests
• Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives and daily stand ups
• Work closely within our broader organization to help the adoption of new and innovative technical architectures

Requirements:

• Strong computer science fundamentals
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of computer science, engineering, or related program
• Experience with Java or Kotlin and knowledge of Android design patterns
• A high degree of personal integrity combined with and entrepreneurial drive
• Self-motivated learner with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Published applications in the Play Store or Github projects
• Experience working with other Android developers as part of a team
