We’re changing how people move by live-mapping the world. We are the developer platform for location.

What We Do

Our business development strategy is to launch new geographic markets, industries, and significant customers requiring new investments in product or alternative business models. Business Development works in close coordination with other business-related functions, including Technical Account Management, Marketing, Sales, as well as each product team. This position will be mainly responsible for the business of selling our localized solutions and mapping products, and working with our China partners, China enterprise customers and government agencies.

What You'll Do

• Build and own relationships with Mapbox’s and our partners’ most strategic customers, ensuring that we grow with them
• Navigate complex customer relationships, developing trust and influence with engineers and developers up to c-level leadership
• Communicate customer needs and industry patterns back to our local product teams to influence our technical roadmap
• Develop new product concepts to meet customer needs in key industries and markets
• Nurture, close, and manage key relationships with data vendors and sales channel partners and conduct direct sales with customers
• Help develop a product expansion plan for improving Mapbox-China’s data coverage and quality in key regions to meet local needs
• Open new industry verticals through research, customer discovery, and partnership development
• Manage executive relationships with key partners, customers, and investors
• Work closely with Legal and BD leads to identify and negotiate partnership opportunities

Requirements

• 5+ years sales/BD/Customer support experiences in mapping, location services, or internet technology industries
• Bachelor degree in GIS, Survey, Computer Science, or related degree
• Deep understanding and rich knowledge of mapping and location technologies
• Experience working with large enterprise customers or government agencies preferred
• Excellent customer communication skill, and customer support experience. Effective oral and written communication skills
• Track record of negotiating complex deals involving a technical product, demonstrating an understanding of the value of data
• Familiarity of collaborating with and presenting to senior executives
• Experience in working with cross-functional teams (Business Development, Legal, Finance, Accounting, etc.)
• Ability to multi-task and deal with pressure in an unstructured environment; ability to work through uncertainty
• Be passionate about the details, do what it takes with speed, resourcefulness, and a positive, go-getter attitude regardless of the tasks at hand
• Up to 50% travel
