About this opportunity

The Director of Application Security role will report to the VP, CISO and be responsible for building and operating an Application Security Program globally. They will work closely with our global development and quality assurance teams to integrate security tools, standards, and processes into their development life-cycle in order to ensure delivery of secure software to our customers and partners.

In this role, you will...

  • Direct the development, design, and implementation of an Application Security Program
  • Direct the development and maintenance of application security policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Direct the design and implementation of a software threat modeling framework
  • Oversee the ongoing implementation of security tools to support the Application Security Program, including technologies such as Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST), Interactive Application Security Testing (IAST), etc.
  • Direct the integration of security policies/standards, tools, and processes into the development and QA lifecycle
  • Oversee the expansion of the bug bounty program
  • Support the incident response, architecture review, and other security processes as AppSec expertise is required
  • Direct and manage regular application security testing (including pen testing) as required
  • Direct the development of application security requirements for software projects
  • Direct the design and execution of a global application security training program for developers, quality testers, and other relevant technical staff
  • Direct the production of meaningful security metrics for reporting the state of application security at Align
  • Work with Internal and External Audit teams to remediate identified application security related risks

In this role, you’ll need ...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Application Security functions, with at least 8 years of management experience
  • Experience in building an Application Security Program, including identifying and hiring strong talent
  • Experience across a variety of development methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile
  • Demonstrated ability to explain risks and vulnerabilities to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations such as PCI, HIPAA, SOX, SOC2, and GDPR
