GLOBAL INVESTMENT RESEARCH

Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research division delivers value-added research to clients in the equity, fixed income, currency and commodities markets. Goldman Sachs develops global client-focused research in economics, portfolio strategy, derivatives and equity and credit securities. Our clients use these insights and investment ideas to develop their strategies. Global Investment Research produces original, fundamental research and analysis of industries, companies and economies. Our research teams continually identify and analyze financial information, strategic issues and trends that affect companies, industries and markets on a regional and global scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

JOB SUMMARY

The successful candidate would be working closely with the senior analysts in the top-ranked Australian Metals & Mining team to analyse companies and stocks within the sector and the factors that affect the industry as a whole.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Building strong industry knowledge of the mining industry
• Building, maintaining and updating company and industry models and databases
• Interpreting industry and commodity data and conducting cross company and sub sector analysis
• Assisting in compilation and writing of single stock and thematic sector research reports and investment recommendations for our clients
• Developing relationships and handling requests from internal and external clients including the equities sales force and traders, institutional investors, company Investor Relations departments and management.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 2-3+ years’ experience as a professional in the Metals & Mining/Resources industry is preferred
• Relevant work experience in investment research or comparable business/financial/consulting experience an advantage, but not essential
• Strong quantitative, analytical and technical skills - experience in Excel and working with financial models
• Working knowledge of accounting, finance, and valuation
• Meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical and organizational skills
• Natural curiosity, critical thinking, logical thinking
• Demonstrated ability to think laterally and exercise good judgment
• Proactive and able to work independently
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills - both verbal and written
• Bachelor’s degree required, preference for engineering/geology/science/commerce
