Head of Europe, Shopify Retail

Job Description

The Opportunity Shopify's Retail team f ocuses on helping small brick-and-mortar retailers out-compete major brands at a fraction of the cost. We build software, hardware, and experiences that deeply integrate point-of-sale, back-office, and e-commerce workflows, saving merchants time and freeing them to focus on the things that matter most to them. As of today, Shopify has over 1,000,000 merchants in 175+ countries and over 100,000 in Europe using our software to set up and run their businesses across multiple sales channels including: web, mobile, social media, marketplaces, brick-and-mortar locations, and pop-up shops and this role is critical to helping us achieve our growth goals in Europe. This role will help empower small and medium sized merchants, bringing communities together through in-person commerce. Not only will you be key in figuring out our go-to-market strategy across all of Europe, you will be tasked with building out the entire multi-functional team from scratch as well as partnering closely with RnD teams to make sure we are building the best products possible for our European merchants. All of that for the goal to promote entrepreneurship and help merchants thrive no matter where they are in their journey to independence.

Responsibilities:

• Accountable for growth and profitability of Shopify Retail in Europe.
• Create and implement country-specific strategies for Shopify Retail, working with Retail leadership team.
• Hire and lead the Shopify Retail team in Europe, including: Sales, Marketing and Partnerships.
• Regular engagement with Shopify Retail leadership team.
• Educate Shopify HQ teams on European market and merchant landscape.
• Represent Shopify and Shopify Retail externally at conferences, events and with media.
• Maintain relationships with influential and respected retailers, partners and industry experts across Europe.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to identify, scope and prioritize country-specific features.
• Advise on competitive landscape and potential opportunities for consolidation.
• Work closely with other Shopify teams on Shopify-wide European initiatives.

Requirements:

• Exceptional full-stack business leader
• Experience as GM / P&L owner with respected high-growth company
• Entrepreneurial experience as startup founder or early team member
• Early working experience in top-tier strategy, finance or technology firm
• Able / willing to work and live in Berlin
