Job Description
Lime is founded on the simple idea that all communities deserve access to smart, affordable mobility. We aim to reduce dependence on personal automobiles for short distance transportation and leave future generations with a cleaner, healthier planet. Using our mobile app, consumers can locate, unlock and ride one of thousands of nearby smart scooters, bikes or transit vehicles. When they're done, they can simply park the vehicle, lock it, and walk away. Traffic, rerouting, and late arrivals are a thing of the past. Lime was born in early 2017, when co-founders Brad Bao and Toby Sun identified a gap in the way people travel short distances. Since then, no company has grown as fast as we have. We’ve deployed thousands of bikes and scooters in 100+ cities worldwide. Since our initial product launch in June of 2017, over 100 million trips have been taken with Lime bikes and scooters, and our riders take 3 million more every week. Even given our spectacular growth, we don’t just see ourselves as a transit company. The insights that we can offer cities - about travel patterns, local economies, and consumer behavior - will be the foundation on which they build in the decades to come. Lime’s executive team has grown rapidly over the past year, to the extent that it now includes 10+ people covering finance, operations, engineering and product, people, marketing, legal and communications, policy and government relations, and trust and safety. We need someone to tackle three primary tasks: 1) serving as a data-driven strategic advisor and counsel to the entire leadership team regarding goals and metrics; 2) tracking down key cross-departmental initiatives and driving the team for results; and 3) creating and maintaining strong cross-departmental communication practices that cover a 600-person team in 25 countries. This role will report directly to Brad Bao, our CEO. The Chief of Staff will also serve as the anchor for future hiring within Brad’s office (with the potential to later manage a team), which presently includes an EA and a program manager who address day-to-day tasks. This person will also work closely across all other leaders within Lime’s executive team, with a particular focus on our corporate development and operations leaders (David Richter, our CBO; Joe Kraus, our COO/president; and Wayne Ting, our global head of operations).
This person's ongoing responsibilities will include:
- Compiling and communicating the data necessary to help Brad (our CEO) and the executive leadership team make critical decisions about Lime’s direction
- Drafting and helping deliver communications (speeches, pitch decks, presentations) from Brad to the ELT and the broader company
- Operational support for Brad and the ELT when interacting with VCs and our Board of Directors
- Helping identify areas for the ELT’s focus, selecting metrics for company success, and evaluating progress against those metrics
- Planning and facilitating all-hands meetings, executive retreats and special events
- Overseeing and facilitating large cross-departmental projects with nuanced communication needs
- Streamlining the onboarding process of new executives
- Contributing to annual and quarterly strategic planning at a company level, and serving as an information repository for KPIs across the executive team
- Acting as an ambassador for culture within the ELT by driving initiatives, events and processes that further enhance the executive team’s cohesion
Ideally, Lime's future chief of staff will have:
- An analytical, business-focused approach to problem-solving, combined with an ability to rapidly identify top strategic priorities for Lime, ideally supported by an MBA and/or consulting or quantitative financial experience
- Highly polished communication skills in both 1:1 and public speaking environments
- The quantitative background necessary to understand diverse data sets relevant to Lime's performance, and the ability to spin up on unfamiliar information quickly and make precise recommendations based on that data
- Comfort managing complex projects that range across multiple departments and a large number of stakeholders
- Work as a culture builder for a fast-moving, technically-driven company that spans international markets
- A deep familiarity with the challenges faced by complex international businesses, especially those with hardware and manufacturing components
- A personal commitment to Lime's mission and the ability to articulate that mission clearly
- A deeply held belief in the importance of providing transit access to historically underserved communities
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and significant equity in a well-funded, extremely high-growth company
- Catered lunch and dinner, daily
- Top-notch healthcare, vision, & dental coverage
- A chance to revolutionize the way cities move and grow
- The personal reward associated with a position of leadership in an industry-leading company - this position is a senior role with major importance, high impact, and high visibility
We here at Lime strive to build a workforce comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds, abilities, minds, and identities that will help us to grow, not only as a company, but also as individuals. Lime is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
