Role Summary:
The Data Quality Engineer (DQE) will ensure the accuracy of data acquired from development and production turbo-shaft and turbo-fan engine tests. The ideal candidate has a solid technical background, understanding of gas turbine engine operation, experience with data acquisition software / hardware, and knowledge of analog and digital signal processing.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, the set up of engine test facility data acquisition systems
- Develop data acquisition configuration files used for development and production engine tests
- Collaborate with stakeholders in and outside of the Test Systems Engineering (TSE) team on data acquisition requirements definition and resolution of open issues for unique data delivery requests in development tests
- Provide recurring support for data systems used in production engine tests
- Give oversight to instrumentation and data systems calibration efforts, ensuring data accuracy, precision of internally-developed thermodynamic rating algorithms, and traceability to National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) criterion
- Give input to test readiness and tollgate reviews in preparation for development engine tests
- Drive initiatives to minimize risk of failures at test through data monitoring tools used by the test conductors
- Document best practices and user guides for data acquisition tools
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience or familiarity with programming language such as Python, SQL and XML
- Experience or familiarity with documentation control such as Tortoise SVN
- Ability to leave customized data acquisition systems
- Strong teamwork, communication, and documentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skil
- Ability to work independently
- Strong problem solving skills
