Core Engineering is a global, multi-disciplinary team responsible for researching, designing, testing and building world-class tools, practices and systems used across Goldman Sachs. Partnering with colleagues from Technology and the business, Core Engineering solves critical problems, maintains and strengthens essential systems, provides training and internal consultancy, and safeguards the firm’s culture of high-caliber software engineering.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
• Deliver detailed project business and technology impact analysis.• Contribute to analysis and decision-making of strategic functional architecture objectives of specific projects• Manage complex projects from inception to implementation• Oversee/manage the work of others performing these tasksSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• Understanding and experience of project management from initiation to implementation (risk / issue management, project)
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure and appreciation for technology change within financial services
• Experience with regulatory response & risk engagements in China is highly preferred
• Contribute to analysis and decision-making of strategic functional architecture objectives of specific projects• The ability to critically examine current processes in order to propose and develop functional improvements• Ability to formulate conversion and test plans
• Software development experiences a plus but not essential• Good verbal and written communication skills• The ability to communicate with senior business unit managers and direct reports
• Ability to elicit business knowledge and quickly understand their needs and concerns• Highly motivated and interested in following up on detailed business or technical issues• Confidence & Influence - someone who shows the potential to influence and motivate others• Willing to support and influence application teams from project inception to completionPreferred Qualifications
• In-depth knowledge of the equities business preferred• Good understanding of the broker/dealer banker: cash market and/or derivatives
• Fluency in Mandarin preferred but not required
