The Data Analytics & Science team drives user acquisition, growth and retention using market and product insights along with marketing channel optimization for the Small Business Group. We are an exciting, growing and fun team that works with industry- leading analytics tools, techniques and best practices.
As a Staff Data Scientist for Market Segmentation, you will dive deep into 3rd party data sources such as Dun and Bradstreet to uncover insights on market segmentation to inform strategy for marketing decisions on investment, targeting and positioning. This position works alongside 3rd party data vendors, marketers, agency partners and finance team to deliver business results and grow our small business customer base.
Responsibilities
- Provide fundamental analysis, insights and expertise in segmenting small and medium businesses to fuel our competitive advantage in marketing financial software to small and medium business customers
- Develop segmentation models using 3rd party and 1st party data to inform go-to-market strategy including targeting and positioning for marketing investments
- Structure batch experiments through our marketing and product platforms and conduct forensic analysis of outputs to explain performance and identify opportunities for algorithmic improvements
- Evaluate, onboard and manage data solutions offered by 3rd party data vendors such as Dun & Bradstreet
- Serve as technical expert of 3rd party data solutions by owning deployment and training for the organization - analysts, marketers and product managers - for onboarded 3rd party data solutions
- Create data engineering requirements and manage processes with data engineering teams to make 3rd party data widely available to the organization
- Monitor 3rd party data solutions market to ensure cutting edge market segmentation capabilities for the organization
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in generating and presenting insights from 3rd party data and from 1st party marketing/product data
- Advanced SQL skills to perform data segmentation and aggregation from scratch
- Familiarity with programming languages and stats packages (e.g. python, R) and big data technology such as HIVE, Hadoop and other related concepts
- Domain expertise in subjects such as experimental design and Multivariate/A-B testing
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to influence decision makers and build consensus with teams
- Willingness and ability to adapt to the rapid business and organizational changes that accompany a high-growth environment
- Undergrad Degree in Quantitative Field (Masters preferred)
