Introduction
As an IBM Application Architect, you directly help clients transform their business and solve complex problems. You will define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of IBM platforms. You are a technical leader, serving as a liaison among business partners, technical resources, and project stakeholders.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Watson IoT and Industry 4.0 Solution Architect youll be an exemplary technical leader in your areas of practice. You would bring deep experience and strategic insight spanning from Architecture, Design and Development leadership to client facing solution skills which are among the best in the industry.
Industry 4.0, is a three-layered distributed architecture that takes into account the requirements for autonomy and self-sufficiency of each production site and balances the workload between the Edge, the Plant and the Enterprise. Some of the significant challenges that are unique to the Industry 4.0 architecture implementation include:

• Productivity gains: higher throughput and efficiency, eliminating non-value-adding activities
• Failure prevention: maximizing OEE, avoiding re-work, scrap, outages, and poor product quality
• Flexibility: hiding complexity, low configuration or reconfiguration effort, plug and produce, and avoiding technology gaps

IBM Solution/IT Architects work directly with our clients on key initiatives. You will have the opportunity to build an in-depth understanding of how IoT, data and analytics related technology solutions solve client's business issues. At the same time, you need to be able to work and have conversations on different architectural levels.
Your day in the role will include:

• Working with Project Sponsors and Client Leadership on various projects as an IoT Solution Architect
• Working on real-life IoT use cases across industries
• Building the technical architecture necessary to support IoT related projects
• Leading the creation of responses to RFI/RFP/RFQs as Solution Architect.
• Implementing IoT related solutions in the architect role
• Working with other technology architects, IT specialists, application developers and operations staff to ensure an appropriate solution is designed. The IT Architect will be able to understand and balance requirements from different sources in complex environments and translate these into robust infrastructure designs.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Strong commercial experience in technical solution design and implementation in information system development; in an architect (or similar) role
• Demonstrable experience in working with Cloud Technologies (Private/Public/Hybrid), Micro service-based architecture, Kubernetes, Dockers etc.
• Knowledge of Cloud Providers e.g. IBM, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform or Red Hat Cloud Technologies
• Ability to identify the appropriate cloud platform products to use for popular architectural patterns
• Experience in including different integration patterns as part of the solution (Streaming, Message based, API, etc)
• Knowledge of some of the IoT solutions like Azure IoT, AWS IoT, Watson IoT, Thingworx, GE Pedix etc.
• Understanding of IoT based Analytics
• Experience in data management/data storage choices (Bigdata, Relational, NoSQL)
• Experience in working with IoT Devices, Gateway or Edge Capabilities, PLC/SCADA/Historian, edge computing, communication protocols or data protocols is a benefit.
