Overview

M Health Fairview is seeking two Service Line Strategy Director opportunities with focus on cardiology care and neurology care respectively. Each Service Line Strategy Director reports to the VP of Clinical Strategy with key accountability to drive strategy planning in their assigned service and business line. The roles are responsible for driving the strategic planning process annually, working with their respective service line on three-year strategic and growth plans and deploying these strategic plans at the entire organization level especially in key focused areas. In addition, the role should look at key growth areas in the market using market analytics and other sources. This role will look to increase contribution margin as well as determine what services to not provide.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Clinical

• Lead service line strategic planning processes
• Partners with service line leaders to solicit ideas for novel programs that meet unmet needs in Minnesota, the upper Midwest and the nation
• Builds analytic frameworks for identification and evaluation of clinical program opportunities
• Help create milestones for service line leaders
• Measures progress of new programs and makes suggestions for early course correction
• Reads market reports to see what areas will grow
• Works with finance to see which services deliver good margins
• Works with analytics to understand quality issues
• Works closely with Operations to determine where care is optimally delivered
• Visit premium sites world wide to see how they are able to improve safety and drive revenue

Research

• Works with service line doctors to develop a method to predict which clinical programs will likely lead to academic and research success

Education

The medical school and its affiliated training programs and the M-Health system are closely linked. Thus, M-Health strategy must take into account the needs of the training programs and the training program should take advantage of the system’s strengths. Thus, the ideal candidate should work closely with the Chief Academic officer to determine how any de-prioritization of a program impacts training and make sure the academic program takes full advantage of the system’s clinical strengths including by establishing CME programs and “super fellowships.”

Travel: up to 25% of time to visit sites

Required

Education

BA/BS in related field

Experience

• Experience in strategic planning in an organization of at least 1B of revenue or subject matter expertise in at least one diesease state
• Proven record of working on teams

Preferred

Experience

• Experience in a hospital or medical company
