Job Description

Your Opportunity

Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) at Charles Schwab & Co. is responsible for implementing a firm-wide, end-to-end vendor management program to improve vendor performance and value. CVM identifies, mitigates, monitors, and handles vendor risk; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements.

What you’re good at

This individual will work with the Managing Director, Exam Management, of the Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) Program Management and Controls team. This role supports the company-wide Third-Party Risk Management Program, including monitoring and reporting compliance with the Third-Party Service Provider (TPSP) Policy, other internal Schwab policies, and regulatory requirements. This individual will lead projects with partners across the enterprise, always having an eye toward continually improving processes. This is a role with varied responsibilities and requires an individual who understands risk management, audit, and compliance disciplines.

To help understand the diversity of this role, the individual will assist with maintenance of TPSP management documentation, including the Procurement Policy, Vendor Management and Outsourcing Procedures, the departmental Business Continuity Plan, Record Retention procedures, desktop procedures, and other guidance. The individual will also be responsible for coordinating and documenting CVM business continuity exercises, identifying and recording vendor deficiency information, assisting with internal audit and regulatory exam document preparation, performing regulatory gap assessments, preparing and tracking action plans to address gaps, and participating in projects to address gaps. As a departmental Subject Matter Expert, the role will provide training and guidance on vendor management policies and be a point of contact for internal procedural questions. This individual must like variety and working in ambiguity. While there is some structure and written procedures, there are many daily activities where the individual must make his or her own decisions and be confident in execution. The role requires significant interaction with other roles, both internal and external, so excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The individual must like interacting with people with diverse opinions about complicated subjects and finding the appropriate path forward.

What you have

  • Knowledge of internal controls, financial/banking regulations and risk assessment and mitigation
