Retirement Business Services (RBS) brings together expertise and resources to help deliver the best trust and custody services for Schwab Retirement Plan Services, independent recordkeepers and investment advisors by offering a broad range of investments, technology, and products to meet the needs of retirement and HSA plan service providers and the participants they serve.
The Systems and Process Optimization Team (SPOT) is a team of Product Owners and Business Analysts responsible for the continuous improvement of RBS’s operational processes, systems functionality, and client/user experiences.
What you’re good at
As a Sr. Business Systems Analyst in SPOT, you will be required to act as a liaison between our business partners, clients, and technology teams to ensure that business requirements for new products and enhancements are well-documented and transformed into conceptual technical solutions that support business strategies.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Translating business needs into effective and efficient technical solutions
- Serving as a coach and mentor to less experienced team members on product development and business analysis
- Championing and implementing business analyst concepts and best practices across the team
- Creating user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation (use cases, workflows, data maps, wireframes/lo-fi mock-ups)
- Planning for and leading end-to-end testing and user acceptance testing
- Investigating and validating issues in development and production
- Educating users on new features and process changes
- Building and sustaining strong relationships with business units and technology partners
What you have
- 5+ years of experience performing business analysis or product ownership, preferably in retirement or financial services
- Ability to pick up complex concepts and processes quickly
- Ability to apply critical thinking, be creative, and show initiative in problem solving
- Experience applying business analysis to Agile software development
- Proven ability to coach and train teammates and business partners on business analysis concepts, techniques, and behaviors
- Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Detail oriented with sound knowledge of documentation best practices and requirements elicitation
- Excellent communication skills:
- Ability to adapt communication to meet the needs of different audiences
- Ability to breakdown complex topics to make them understandable to business and technology audiences
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Passion for learning, driving process simplification and consistency, and managing change
- Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and high level of integrity and professionalism
- Competence in Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Visio, Excel, and Powerpoint
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience
Preferences:
- IIBA certification
- Prior financial services experience, particularly in retirement services
- Prior experience with JIRA and Confluence
- Our team spans support of a variety of applications: a business to business client website, workflow management, trading and cashiering platform, data exchange, and user developed tools. Familiarity with any of the following would be a plus:
- PEGA
- APIs, SFTP
- Tableau, SQL and/or basic understanding of relational databases
- MS Access and/or VBA
- RPA
