Senior Director, Product

Job Description

Kira Systems is looking for a Senior Director of Product to lead our product management organization. This is a rare high-impact opportunity to join the senior leadership team of one of Canada’s highest growth SaaS companies. Our software uses sophisticated machine learning to enable professionals to augment their knowledge and expertise, find what matters in their business documents and, in the process, fundamentally change how they work.

The Product organization at Kira Systems consists of product managers supporting multiple product lines, and product operations (feedback, market data, usage analytics and documentation).

Our product managers work as members of cross-functional “pods” alongside members of our product design, engineering, and ML research organizations. They also work outside the pods collaboratively with our marketing, sales, finance and operations teams to define go-to-market strategies including value proposition, packaging, pricing and support models.

As our new product leader, you will report to our CTO and work with the executive leadership team to define our product strategy and guide and mentor teams to make evidence-driven decisions about where we invest our efforts. We have ambitious plans for the coming years. The right leader will inspire passion for our mission, drive relentless focus, and deliver results by shipping new capabilities that our customers will adopt and love.

What You Will Be Doing

• Build a repeatable data driven process for improving and evolving our product
  • Institute a system for building a roadmap based on multiple factors such as user needs, return on investment (ROI), and corporate strategy
  • Define and track KPIs that measure the impact and ROI of our product strategy and development efforts
  • Work with other teams such as product design, development, and marketing to ensure we have a predictable and reliable design and delivery process
• Scale the product team to meet the needs of the organization
  • Grow the Product team by attracting and retaining new talent, in collaboration with our People team.
  • Shape and mature our Product organization by creating the structure needed for growth and by providing development opportunities to your team
  • Manage the Product budget and make resourcing decisions across teams that are aligned with the roadmap and lifecycle.
  • Instill a culture of evidence-driven decision making, and empower all product development teams with the information they need to make evidence-driven decisions. This includes an understanding of our customers and users, their feedback, and data on usage and adoption. It also includes data on costs (both direct costs and opportunity costs) and ROI.
• Partner with our leaders of product design, technology and machine learning research teams, to set product direction and priorities. Lead, define, and communicate product strategy internally and externally
• Collaborate with Marketing and customer facing teams to launch and manage new products and features
  • Ensure our product value propositions are clearly and accurately defined
  • Empower the product marketing and support teams with the resources necessary to manage products and features throughout their life cycles

What You Bring

• 7+ years of product management experience, including as a Director, Group Product Manager, or similar leadership role
• Worked on multiple complex, successful products in your career
• A track record of delivering well-adopted products that users love
• A track record of developing your team members, as evidenced by their career successes
• Led product roadmap and execution across cross-functional teams or squads
• Experience working with a UX / product design function

A Plus If You Have

• Experience with content / editorial operations, and/or machine learning model development operations
• B2B, SaaS, or SDK experience
• Experience with marketplaces and community management
• Deep knowledge of pricing and packaging
