Senior Data Scientist, Modeling, Ideation & Research

Qualified candidates will have a passion for AI/Machine learning, data science, algorithms and experience in credit risk scoring and associated methods. The ideal candidate will combine the skills to create new prototypes with the creativity and thoroughness to ask and answer the deepest questions about the data, and to push the boundaries of what is possible with big data analytics/modeling.

Responsibilities:

• (Senior) Data Scientist is an integral part of the Data Science Lab that works closely with internal and external clients in all phases of the prototype development.
• Research innovative data solutions to solve real market problems.
• Integrate diverse data sources, data types and data structures into solutions
• Develop analytical approaches to meet business requirements; this involves translating requests into use cases, test cases, preparation of training data sets and iterative algorithm development
• Work with key stakeholders and understand their needs to develop advanced solutions or improve existing solutions around data and analytics.
• Work in a cross-functional, matrix organization, at times under ambiguous circumstances.
• Partner in development of scalable solutions using large datasets with other data scientists on the team
• Conceptualize, analyze and develop actionable recommendations for strategic challenges facing the organization.
• Manage data analysis to develop fact-based recommendations for innovation projects.
• Mine Big Data and other unstructured data to tap untouched data sources and deliver insight into new and emerging solutions.
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop ideas and execute business plans.
• Remain current on new developments in AI/Machine Learning, data analytics, Big Data, predictive analytics, and technology.

Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in Computer Science or a closely related field (with 5-7 years of relevant experience for senior role).
• Experience of developing AI/ML models using Scala/Spark, SAS or a data manipulation tools is a plus
• Strong SQL skills in Big Data environment (BigQuery, Hive, Impala etc.) a plus
• Expertise with a programming languages such as Python, Scala
• Experience working with very large datasets, knowledge of distributed computing tools (Spark, BigQuery, MapReduce, Hive, Apache Mahout etc.) a plus
• Agile development including Scrum and other lean techniques is a plus
• Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to design algorithms, which may include data cleaning, data mining, data clustering and pattern recognition methodologies
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a highly matrix driven organization, at times under ambiguous circumstances
