Network Implementation Engineer

What you’ll be doing...

The Implementation and Activation Engineer is responsible for the logical configuration of customer network equipment (both Customer Premise and Network) via thorough routing concepts. The Engineer ensures configurations meet customer expectations as well as industry and product standards, supports customer activations and is responsible for configuration adjustments as needed for management acceptance testing. In addition, the Implementation and Activation Engineer is responsible for accurate back office system data record management.

• Implementing the network for both LAN and WAN.
• Implement, configure, and deploy LAN and WAN network connections, hardware, software and communication links and services.
• Optimize the network and systems services and troubleshoot any network performance issues.
• Handle the service provision and monitoring of the network infrastructure to company standards.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• A Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Three or more years of relevant work experience.
• Three or more years of networking or telecommunications experience with Layers 1, 2 and 3 engineering.
• Must have, or be able to qualify for, a government clearance at the Public Trust level.
• Experience with IP Addressing.
• Experience using common routing protocols [TCP/IP, Private IP, Ethernet, ATM, GRE / IPSEC, Frame-Relay, Multilink Frame-Relay] in successful network implementations.
• Experience leading a troubleshooting call during activation of provider edge routers and circuits.
• Must be able to work evening and weekend hours when required.

Even better if you have:

• A bachelor’s degree.
• CCNA Certification.
• Experience in a customer facing role with strong interpersonal and organizational skill sets.
• Competency/experience in the following areas:
• Transport / Access [TDM Access, Ethernet Access].
• Applications / Systems related to the configuration, activation, and troubleshooting of circuits and routers.
• Cisco, and Juniper router configuration experience.
• Ability to demonstrate a command of common WAN architecture and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
• The following technical skills, knowledge, and experience:
• IP Addressing: strong to expert understanding of IP addressing/Sub netting/CIDR.
• Transport / Access: DSL, T-1, T-3, ISDN, NxT1, OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, VSAT.
• Equipment: Cisco ISR, Catalyst Switches, Juniper, Adtran.
• Protocols: TCP/IP, Private IP, Ethernet, ATM, GRE / IPSEC, Frame-Relay, Multilink Frame-Relay.
• Routing Protocols: BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIP and Static Routing.
• Configuration of: DNS, VRRP, HSRP, Load Sharing, GLBP, Zone Based Firewall, Policy Based Routing, Access Control Lists, VLAN, WLAN, NAT, PPPoE.
