About the Aladdin UX Design Team

The Aladdin UX Design team researches, designs and engineers the user experience for the Aladdin investment and risk analytics platform which is used by institutional wealth managers and investment professionals worldwide.

We practice a human-centered design approach--designing software grounded in user need--to enable our users to tap into the power of BlackRock’s Aladdin enterprise platform. We’re growing a team of skilled UX designers, visual designers, researchers, and front-end developers to help reimagine the platform through that lens.

We are looking for a UX designer who understands and is excited by the complexities of designing software for the enterprise.

About You

You seek insight into user needs to derive efficient, friendly interaction design. You recognize the importance of understanding the holistic journey a user takes when providing them with valuable tools for task completion. You are not afraid of complexity, depth, and juggling the demands of a wide, varied user base when designing software.

You love the process of researching problems and designing solutions. You eat, sleep, and breathe user stories and wireframes. You love collaborating with and communicating new ideas to product owners and engineers.

As an Associate UX Designer, you will:

• Gather user needs and stakeholder requirements via research
• Rapidly iterate on design ideas and validate with users
• Provide detailed wireframes, clickable prototypes, and accompanying specs to implementation teams
• Proactively seek feedback from senior designers to ensure your designs are as polished as they can be
• Help govern the quality of our software by closely following and evangelizing our standards
• Collaborate within the UX team to help define and better our practice
• Work autonomously, efficiently, and with a positive, solution-oriented attitude

Qualifications:

• 5 years of UX design experience, creating and evolving software design for digital products and platforms
• BFA degree in HCI or a related discipline
• Excellent design instincts, with deep knowledge of interface design best practices
• Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to work with product and engineering to see designs accurately realized
• Comfort with public presentation to groups
• Experience performing your own research if needed, particularly contextual inquiry to understand user journeys and basic usability testing for validation
• A shareable portfolio of work that shows deep solutions for complex user problems
• Extensive knowledge of Sketch and/or Axure for wireframing and prototyping
• Fearlessness when it comes to learning new concepts and moving decisively on what you’ve learned
• A collaborative spirit with a low-ego drive to find the best possible solutions
• Bonus: Experience designing in the finance/investment space (not required for the position)
