The Grants Development Associate is a new role in the ACLU of Maryland’s (ACLU) Development Department, based in our Baltimore office. The Development Department currently operates as a small shop and works to secure funding to support various ACLU priorities including justice system reform, equity in public education, individual autonomy & government accountability, fair voting rights, and immigrants’ rights, among others.
The Grants Development Associate will provide administrative support to the Development Department and will be an integral part of the internal work of the team.
They will serve as the grant writing and research enthusiast for the organization, partnering with the Development Director and program staff to ensure preparation of high-quality funding proposals and reports.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, with meticulous attention to detail and passion for writing, data, and research. They have the skills and confidence to work both collaboratively and independently, with the ability to manage their time effectively. They enjoy connecting the dots and creating new opportunities to secure financial support for the ACLU’s important work. They are knowledgeable about past and present civil rights issues, with a demonstrated commitment to advancing racial equity personally and professionally. They are a thoughtful team player who values and respects differences of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, ability, and socio-economic circumstance. Compensation and Benefits
Salary $52,000 to $57,000 depending on experience. Excellent benefits include two weeks paid vacation at time of hire (increasing to three weeks after one year, and four weeks after five years); 12 office holidays; 12 paid sick days; six weeks paid parental leave; medical and dental insurance for staff members, their dependents and spouse/domestic partner; life and long-term disability insurance; 401(k) plan with employer match; and direct exposure to cutting-edge civil liberties and civil rights work. This position is non-exempt from overtime under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is in the bargaining unit represented by OPEIU Local 2.
