Staff Engineer - EMI / EMC Testing

Job Description

Role Summary:

The Staff Engineer for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) / Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing performs complex Engineering tests of internally-designed electrical components relative to system requirements. Responsibilities include writing / reviewing procedures, leading test team execution, gathering / analyzing data, writing test reports and making recommendations to the Engineering design teams.

Essential Responsibilities:

Work is performed via on-site EMI test facilities and occasionally at off-site locations.

Execute and provide guidance for the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements

Lead business initiatives in design, materials, manufacturing, quality and/or productivity

Define and develop product processes related to design, analysis, test, materials, manufacture, quality and/or productivity

Identify need for technical and program reviews within the organization

Lead technical reviews and participate as a reviewer

Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate

Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules and contract commitments

Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college

A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering role relative to EMI Design, Test, and Analysis
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time

Desired Characteristics:

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college

Strong technical and analytical ability related to several product lines

Strong presentation and report writing skills

Familiarity and experience with EMI/EMC and lightning testing of products to MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464 and/or RTCA/DO-160G requirements

Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in a teaming environment across multiple organizations

LEAN / Six Sigma training

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
